You could always have bought one from Rogers or RIM directly, unlocked it, and used it on AT&T.
You CAN afford to buy a no-contract BlackBerry, right?This post represents the offices of Me, Myself, and I. Representation of other individuals and entities is not implied, despite inferences. - 10-24-2011, 02:03 AM #8
When this does finally get released, I'm guessing it'll be a $200 on contract deal? Or might it be $300? Or even $100? Ha.
I guess the reason I can't decide is that the 9810 was just $50 basically right away. So who knows.Lovin' my BB since Dec '07
8300 -> 8310 -> 8900 -> 9300 -> 9700 -> 9900 - 10-27-2011, 02:23 AM #10
well... hard to say. AT&T has been aggressive with their pricing for a lot of phones lately, look at the top tier androids they have out like the infuse and atrix 2 that are at $99 with upgrade. They are taking big, iphone sized subsidies on those.
Now the torch 2/9810, actually has the same 1.2GHZ processor as the torch 9860 and bold 9900 coming. In fact, the main difference with the bold 9900 is the addition of NFC capability. I'm really hoping AT&T keeps up their aggressive pricing. If I had to wager a guess, November 6th, for $199 with 2 year contract, and then it'll go to $99 during holiday season.
Torch 2/9810, I see it staying at $50, maybe holiday sale as well to help deplete their inventory of it. - 10-27-2011, 05:18 PM #14
I thought it was going to be on Nov. 20th for the 9900, and the 9860 will be released on Nov. 6th.

Just curious as to why everyone is holding out for the 9900? The 9810 is a great device and the price you can't beat it. Coming from the 9650 I thought i couldnt do the torch but after getting it I don't see myself going to the 9900. With no autofocus and the batt stories I just dont think its worth giving up the 9810 that doesnt have any problems. JMO

My 9700 keyboard broke a few weeks ago so I figured I'd pick up a 9810 just to feel it out and maybe keep it. At first I loved it just because of how much better it was than 9700 but as I get more and more used to it I really am not a fan of it at all. The large screen is nice, but typing is not enjoyable to say the least. Battery life is alright. I just hate the feel of it in the hands and the keyboard feels cramped. I'm praying the bold comes out nov 6th so I can trade this in for it.

Agree, I went from the 9000 to the 9800 and cannot wait for the 9900. The 9800 is a good device, but it just stinks for typing. I have grown to dislike the slider because I cannot take it out one handed and easily operate it like I could the 9000, and when in the vehicle mount it is difficult to use as well. I don't hate it I just prefer the other form factor. At this point I will get the 9900 or depending on my patience levels with this thing not being released, I may opt for a larger all touch like the S2.

I know, it is a steal and I will probably end up getting two, but my T-Mobile contract runs every 14Th so I will wait until the 12Th and see what will happen, which is probably nothing but I got to wait anyways...
