Is this possible?
I'll try to make it as short as possible, but include the pertinent info.
I ported over from Centennial Wireless when AT&T bought them out. Had 2 lines, i only upgraded one to get my 9700, kept the old phone i had on the other. My 9700 line has the Blackberry plan and messaging add-on. So, fast forward, the Captivate is about to come out. i want to get it, BUT, will i have to add a second data and messaging add-on to it, increasing my bill by the $30 or so for data and $20 i think for the messaging? because i want to keep my BB and have the Captivate also. - 07-10-2010, 01:36 AM #2
Not sure if this is 100% correct, but I'm 95% sure.
If you only have one line you only need one data plan. You can swap the SIM from phone to phone using the same data plan, but you would need to call AT&T each time you switch the SIM from phone to phone to reactivate it.Blackberry Bold 9700 => 5.0.0.938

Two lines would require two data plans.

Family voice plan, $30 total gets you unlimited messaging.
Data plans are never shared, and are either:
Smartphone
$30 for unlimited if you already had it
$25 for 2GB monthly, $10 per each instance of usage of and up to 1GB beyond that, stacking
$15 for 200MB monthly, $15 per each instance of usage of and up to 200MB beyond that, stacking
Basic phone
$15 for unlimited data
$10 for unlimited data if you have Family Messaging Unlimited
Messaging can be shared or not, and comes in the following flavors:
$30 for Family Messaging Unlimited. Up to 5 lines in one group.
$20 for unlimited messaging for a single line
$15 for 1500 messages for a single line
$5 for 200 messages for a single line - 07-12-2010, 04:28 PM

Yes you can keep your smartphone unlimited on that line, and change the 9700 to the other and put either a 200mb or a 2gb.

You can change from smartphone to smartphone and still keep the appropriate unlimited data feature. Just have a supervisor switch it for you. Do NOT go to a store for feature support.
