No tethering on Bold9000 after (unofficial) 5.0.0.509 upgrade
Well, after playing with OS5 on my wife's new 9700, I decided to install the version that was leaked yesterday on my 9000 (first time for me using "unofficial" OS). Everything seemed normal, updating a few apps, adding in passwords where needed etc. I haven't made many calls yet, so don't know about that side, but I tried tethering last night (and I have this plan w/AT&T-- I had just used it a few nights ago w/no problem). It would dial, connect, but when it tried to register on netwk, I also got ERROR 734: PPP link protocol was terminated. I checked all of the suggestions on the HELP button from Windoze (XP-- I use dialup networking to connect, not AT&T Comm mgr) and all was as it should be. Tried again today several times, same problem. Of course, I can go back to 4.6, but it's a huge time sink and also, it would really be nice to have 5.0 on my phone. Any ideas???

I got this working after the post, thought I would update in case anyone else has this happen. I use Windoze dialup networking (not ATT Comm Mgr) to connect when I am tethering and as it turns out, the INIT string for the Standard Modem (on my laptop) had been nuked... I don't know how, as I had just used it a few nights earlier, before I upgraded to OS5. Anyway, after I rectified this, everything worked just fine, so no probs w/tethering on OS (leaked) 5.0.0.509 using AT&T. BTW- the string I use is: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","isp.cingular"
