How many current phones take advantage of the HSPA 7.2 speed? What are the new phones that will take advantage of the HSPA 7.2 speed?

The 3GS is HSPA 7.2 as is the Backflip. The HTC FuZe also had 7.2, but it's not longer sold. It's looks like the new Tilt2, the eXpo, and oddly enough the Mythic are all HSPA 7.2.

Do 3G phones support 7.2 if they're not on the 3G network?

Of course not. Does your phone ring with no battery in it?

ha, for whatever reason, I forgot that 7.2 was bridging the gap between 3G and 4G in terms of speed and not 2G to 3G. So forgive me for being retarded.
Do we have any idea what future phones (like, for example, the 9800 slider) will work with the 7.2? Or is it a "wait and see" kinda deal?Lovin' my BB since Dec '07

Mainly a Wait and see... No word of that, and so far the 9700 which could have supported it, didn't (has the same features as the 9000 radio wise) if it serves as any indication, but honestly I really don't know...
