Bought a iphone 3G AT&T for my visit to NJ and wondering if they just have prepaid
Only will be in the states for two months and want to use be able to use that 3G for calls and also for some applications like Facebook and Twitter during my traveling. You use to be able to get prepaid sims but seems like many things changed in the US since my last visit. BTW I am American going to visit family and I have a Blackberry Torch which for sure you can't get a prepaid so thats why I bought a iphone.
thanks for your help

US iPhones tend to be hit-or-miss on prepaid service. Not certain about iPhones from overseas.

This is coming from expierence
An iphone, wether it be att or not, has to be unlocked in order to use the prepaid service. It does work, very good as a matter of fact, but it must be unlocked or you'll encounter the 'sim not provisioned' error.

Well it appears that ATT just started offering prepaid data for smartphones. It says on their gophone site that you have to add a data plan for smartphones, up to 500mb for $25 (what ATT charges a postpaid customer for 2GB BIS). Check out their site:
Get Started - Wireless from AT&T
You should prob ask an ATT rep to be sure. At worst your iphone would be able to make calls and texts only. Oh yea and it would either have to be an unlocked iphone or ATT's iphone.
