Thumbs down ATT the worst Carrier for BlackBerry ?

Is it me or is ATT the WORST carrier to go with if u r a BlackBerry user?. Did u know that they WILL NOT let their employees carry a BlackBerry as their business line?. They restrict EVERYTHING, 1st We don't even get the Bold when its released, they Disable NFC. Then they take Bridge away. Where is 7.1 ?? BlackBerry is #1 when it comes to Data Compression, why r they so hard on us ? I have switch to Sprint , got some NFC tags and LOVE it.

NFC, not to many around me to worry about it. sure would be nice but not a big deal.

Bridge, There is a work around thanks to rroyy, No big deal.

7.1 OS, plenty of leaks. Just installed 7.1.342 on mine tonight.

Good luck on sprint. It stinks where I live.

AT&T irritates me as far as lagging behind when it comes to releasing BlackBerry operating systems. However, there is nothing to stop me from downloading 7.1 from other carriers. In fact, I just downloaded 7.1 from Rogers yesterday and it works great. Not having NFC is not a big deal to me and neither is bridge. I like the coverage I get from AT&T. I left them March 2011 and went to T Mobile but went right back to AT&T in November because I was not happy with T Mobile coverage. It just wasn't good enough for me. I didn't know that they won't let their employees carry a BlackBerry as a business line. I'm curious as to why that may be.

NFC is jus a cool feature that I wanted to try

I have seen bridge work but a hassle sometimes

7.1 leak.... I have never had a Blackberry crash on me so many times. I have always tried leaks but rather not on OS7.
Thanks for the advice but I was jus tired of all the "work arounds" I just wanted it OEM possible outside and in lol

You know, your complaint really has NOTHING to do with AT&T as a carrier for the
BlackBerry. What your complaint really is is your dissatisfaction with the business
decisions your employer, for whatever reason, has made.

I only point this out so that this does not turn into a (insert carrier here) suck thread.

Jonathank I was just stating what works for me. As far as Bridge being a Hassle please tell us. I have no issue using it. In fact it work great. I travel to much to move to another carrier. I like having service all the time.

    Very well said

in terms of company's who DISS BlackBerry I'd actually say it is verizon based on the fact that they publicly announced they are throwing support behind Windows Phone for the 3rd Platform.

And they have the most rumours against them about bad BlackBerry displays and support at the Store level.

though my American counter parts who have verizon as a carrier and have BlackBerry's have nothing but good things to say about signal quality

That has to be something new. The manager of the AT&T corporate store who sold me my 9000 had one also.

I did not ask him what he uses now when I recently got a new device. If I'm at the store I will ask, since the manager knows me well.

AT&T being slow to release official OSes is not anything new. Back when I was using a 9000, I usually installed an OS from Rogers or Vodafone, since they released new versions way before AT&T. It was no big deal. As long as you delete the vendor .xml(s), any carrier's OS for your device will work.

AT&T does have 3G and HSPA+ in many locales. AT&T even has LTE in some areas, with more on the way. T-Mobile does not have LTE at all yet.

AT&T has much better coverage than T-Mobile where I live.

Look through old threads of them lying as to why they were delaying Bridge. Then charge for it.

Disable the NFC for no real good reason.

I don't even want to list all the reason.

ATT is evil at the core. Period

    Take your BB elsewhere.

looking to go from my 9800 to 9900 on ATT, will NFC be activated on my new 9900 with a 7.1 OS load from another carrier? (simply for using NFC tags with the ShortCutMe apps, not too worried about public tags/payments, etc)

Their biggest hypocrisy was when they said that they wanted to BlackBerry to succeed. All they are doing to help RIM is just having a BlackBerry showing in the smartphone area... AT&T stores look like Apple stores. Apple ads everywhere. iPhone posters everywhere. iPad posters everywhere. Employees talking about Apple.

They are now pushing a bit Android but it's because of the LTE. BlackBerry ads nowhere. Perhaps one, at the back of the store, because of the Torch 9810.

If I had to pick a carrier and the costs were the same it would be Verizon. I think they provide the best coverage, then ATT and then Sprint.
I have actually used all three in the past at one point or another. I thought we were getting the best deal on Sprint but the coverage was just not there for several places.

I was so upset with ATT over the Bridge issue that I cancelled and went to Sprint but Bridge works fine on ATT now. Further, they have an exclusive on the Torch 9810.

I agree, I miss NFC. I always forget to switch from WiFi to BT and vice versa between office and commute but I have SCM and that works almost as good because I just need to hit my space bar three times and it happens.

ATT also had the Bold 9930 on 4G whereas the Sprint Bold does not offer this. I hear that it is a good thing because Sprint 4G sucks battery life fast.

ATT had exclusive rights to the iPhone and they leveraged that to the max. However, now everyone has the iPhone (except T-Mobile) and that issue is no longer relevant.

The bottom line is that I don't think ATT is the enemy. Although, I am glad there are three other carriers out there if any one of them starts going crazy, like ATT did with Bridge, then we can all just switch.

The 9900 on AT&T is HSPA+ capable. HSPA+ is actually faster than 3G, but slower than LTE. The only LTE devices on AT&T are Androids or Windows Phones.

The 9930 on Sprint is 3G (1X-EVDO). The only 4G (WiMax) devices on Sprint are Androids.

I barely surf the web on my phone.... I would only show a youtube video now and again.... I do not c a diff in email so all carriers are the same when it comes to puch email.... Web browsing is the least thing i do on my Berry so all this speed for such a small device does nothing for me, I still rather surf the web on a computer....

The browser is something a lot of people need. A friend of mine mentioned seeing ads for the BlackBerry 9900 in the Boston Globe touting the browser. He did not mention which carrier ran the ads.

Usually with AT&T, is up to the customer to update their devices with leaks. Not the best choice, but works for me.

My BBs have always been fine on AT&T. I live in a strong market, good signal, I never run AT&T official OS versions, and I get my Bridge from Rroyy. My NFC has always worked.

As an evil corporate entity, they suck only slightly less than Verizon.
