Any Progress on Approving Bridge?

When will ATT finally approve allowing the Bridge app to be downloaded? I have not seen anything indicating that they have responded to concerns other than the "we are studying it" statement. Why are they the only carrier blocking it?

They are blocking it because they are trying to figure out how they can charge for it. The problem is IMO that they are having problems trying to determine if the traffic is bridge or normal phone traffic. I doubt there is any difference between the two at the lowest levels.

AT&T needs to come clean and tell their customers exactly why it has taken 1 month (and counting) for this app to be allowed. Trust me, until RIM makes the bridge browsing experience better, nobody is going to use it for a huge amount of data so it's not consuming a huge amount of bandwidth.

I assumed the reason they were blocking it was to see if they could find a way to charge for it. I think it stinks, but it is what it is. Thankfully there is a work-around here at Crackberry. That being said, it makes no sense to issue a statement that purports to be studying the app and that states that they have not had enough time to look at it (the idea being that RIMM kept it from them), then not issue a follow up statement about their findings.

I have been with ATT for a long, long time and am not pleased that they seem to be so patently dishonest in their public statement. The least they can do is be honest in what they are doing. The longer they wait to issue a final decision about Bridge seems to say that they must have some sub-par employees who are "studying" the issue since they can't figure it out in a month. Lord love a duck!

Is there an ATT representative who is moderating this forum that can find out if they are ever going to decide? Or will it be to decide not to decide, i.e. "we are stuying it".

Read the network abuse section of your contracts to see why this has to be studied.

And AT&T representatives are not told ANYTHING about coming changes or phones that has not already been released on the press release site. Apple helped in 2007 by not supplying AT&T with any documentation for the iPhone until the day after it launched. Activation was a hoot on day 1.

So it takes them 30 days to study it and still no word? And why is ATT the only network balking? Are all the other networks easily duped by RIMM, but only ATT is wise in wanting to study Bridge? Just wish that ATT would make a decision. As my Daddy used to say, "Crap or get off the pot."
