Default Water Damage on BB 9900 help!

So i recently just got the blackberry bold 9900 (a week or so) and it fell in the toilet. I bought insurance on it when i purchased the phone but we didn't get our first monthly bill yet. I know your suppose to take the battery out and let it dry but if it doesn't work after a couple of days, will they give me a new BB if i send the damaged one back or do i have to pay more?
I want to know about the at&t insurance because i'm pretty sure my phone is fried after reading about all the effects of water damage on a blackberry! Please reply i'll be waiting, thanks.

Water damage is a killer! The best way to try to save the BB and it's probably too late is to take the battery out drop it in a bath of pure denatured alcohol as close to 100% as possible. Then let it try for a day or two in silica gel packs (you can get them at a home store, shipping store or a friendly pharmacy), or uncooked rice. It may be too late though if you have been using it already.

Does insurance cover water damage? I thought that it didn't, but am not sure. You may want to check into that.

If you take out insurance on a phone at the time of purchase you should be covered from the moment you leave the shop, in the majority of cases. Find out as soon as possible whether your insurance covers water damage and if it does report your handset as water damaged straight away, as most insurance companies will only let you claim if you report the incident within 24 hours.

Personally I'd claim on the insurance and get a new handset sent out the next day. After having the phone a week its not worth the risk of leaving it to dry because even if you can get it working again its likely to develop faults due to the damage.

Hope I've helped

I called my at&t provider right after it got wet and they told me that since i just got the phone my insurance may not be finalized yet till i get the next bill.
I hope i don't have to pay another $200 for the phone...

The good news is that it will be covered.. water damage, lost, stolen, everything is covered.. from the minute you sign up. The bad news is that the deductible is $199. But hey, its better than the $600 no contract price.

Not after water damage I don't think. You could try replacing the LCD, but that can become rather expensive.
