AT&T Prorate data change?

I have to go on a trip in a bit and need to use my laptop while out. The hotel im staying out charges an insane rate for wifi. Im currently on the 2gb plan. If I switch to a tethering plan then switch back to the 2gb plan will I get billed only for the time im on the tethering plan?

Warning: backdate the feature change, or you will get smacked with overages if you use a lot in a short period of time.

AT&T bills by the day, as far as services go, but keep in mind that a service with a set limit will be reduced to (X/30)(number of days service is enabled), where X = the monthly limit of minutes/messages/data units.

So having a 4GB tethering package for one week will give you about 480MB of tethered usage.

I must also say that if you are not in the US you will be charged for each byte of data as international data. So if your leaving the US border, do NOT tether.
