Default AT&T "4G" Mobile Speed Test

Has anyone seen speeds this high on their 9810? I have a feeling that this website is not accurate. In the pics below, you can see I am not on wifi. Wifi had been turned off for several hours before I did the speed test. I had also cleared the cache and history before doing the test. I was in the middle of a large 4G coverage area with full signal. I'd like to know if anyone else has seen these kinds of numbers. I'd also like to know if there are any better alternatives for mobile speed tests. Thanks.

Don't have the 9900 yet so can't comment on that but I use Speedtest app from Xtreme Labs

I know back when I had my Bold 9000 (new at the time), everyone said Speedtests on BB phones are useless because data is compressed, so the tests are inaccurate.

As far as I know, the only way to speedtest is if you are tethered or using Wifi hotspot and you run the speedtest from that device.

Pretty much every data request from a BB goes through RIM anyway. You'll never get accurate speed test results from such a proxy.

theres no way thats faster than wimax.

i used a mobile speedtest from TestMy.net Broadband Speed Test and the speeds on 3G seemed closer to reality. i was getting like 3 Mbps down.

I average 7-9 MB/sec on the 7MB test, my best has been 13 MB/sec

Good critical thinking. In fact some speed tests make fun of rim and say, Rim disables a useless function, well, that USELESS function is being able to do a proper speed test.

And though this is skewed, it is possible to be faster than Wimax. Just because Wimax is Wimax, it doesn't mean it is always the fastest or most stable connection, and that goes for any speed. Sometimes I go down to 2G because it is more stable than my H+ and as we all know, having an unstable connection is not only slow and choppy but drains battery life.
