Default Price Drop Anytime Soon? (9900)

I'm looking to get a Bold pretty soon but I really don't want to pay $250.00 for it.....I have AT&T and currently have an iPhone 3GS but i've wanted to add a Bold to my plan ever since I played with it in the AT&T store the keyboard and speed of the device simply blew me away.....I'm thinking if there isn't going to be a price drop anytime soon I will probably just get the phone off Amazon.

I've been thinking about the Torch 9810 as well but since I missed out on the original Bold 9000, I feel like the new Bold is a great successor and definitely the best Blackberry on the market right now

So with that said, anyone here about AT&T and/or RIM dropping the price of the Bold anytime soon?

The 9900 is RIM's flagship phone and they will not be dropping the price till they have another one coming and that is not going to happen for a long time.

Best bet is look for the best deal you can get with a contract with your carrier. Sometimes Amazon can offer a better deal for AT&T than AT&T can!

Doesn't look like this phone will drop in price anytime soon, but you should be able to find a cheaper price away from AT&T. Amazon and Costco run specials on these phones occasionally.

Sidenote: Stay away from used. These phones have been plagued with issues and you will be left without an warranty. My opinion is to buy new or buy nothing. You don't want to be stuck with an 500.00 paperweight.

You can get it for 109 on amazonwireless.com. That's where I got mine, granted I added a line to get that price

Does anyone know how the warranty works with buying it outside of your carrier?

It would still have a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer, but not from your carrier. Make sure if you are with AT&T, you get one that is a GSM model and not a CDMA....

Recently tried to upgrade using amazon wireless and it kept asking me to choose a plan. I have an unlimited plan with AT&T, but there was no option for me to keep my current plan. Am I missing something?

I paid $70 for mine on AmazonWireless, sounds like any warranty (within the one year manufacturer) would have to be done by them.

When I upgraded, however, somehow it deleted my data plan. I had to go to the store to have them put it back on (I kept the same one, they just had to put it back), but that was just the old 200Mb for $15 plan. Not sure how that would work for the unlimited data one.

@sallenthorton, I had the same problem when I purchased mine through best buy. I called best buy CS and they told me to call AT&T and have them "note" to put me back on my grandfathered plan once I received my phone. So that's what I did and everything worked out. I had my 9900 activated at a best buy store because for some reason they didn't offer the buy back program online and the insurance so I had it done in person. At first the employee seemed like she didn't wanna go through all thr "work" so she tried telling me she couldn't do it. Long story short they are able to do it they just have to mark it as a "return" and "exchange" (for the same phone) since they could only add insurance and the buy back program at time of "purchase". That part was a bit of a hassle but nevertheless worth it
