Default pay less out of contract?

I'm trying to get out of my sprint contract and a coworker told me that if I go in to ATT/t-mobile out of contract they charge you less per month. Is that true? He has t-mobile and said he pays less than if he signed.

That is usually not the case because any discount given is off of a handset, not on your monthly charge.

I would call ATT/TMO and see what they say.

Ah alright, he has t-mobile, they might be a bit different.
Would there be a activation charge still? Or no?

I wish carriers still provided incentives for people having to pay ETF's on other carriers.

AT&T doesn't pay off ETFs because people constantly switch carriers. There is no profit to be made from it.

The contract only exists as an agreement to pay 24 monthly bills in exchange for a subsidy on the price of your chosen equipment. The monthly service fees are pretty well static, with one notable exception being Family Data Unlimited at $10 in the place of regular Data Unlimited for $15 monthly, if you already have Family Messaging Unlimited. Naturally, this is not for smartphones.

On t mobile you can pay less without on contract. They do not list those plans on the website, but you can ask for it on person. I don't know about on the phone.
