Default New service??

So I was just reading that AT&T is going to start sending it's customers "shop alerts" when the customer is near a clients store. All based on your location. I didn't see if you had to elect to receive them or if they were just going to start throwing them out to everyone. Anyone else see this?

I found this article and it looks like it is an "opt-in" feature.

This had best be an "opt-in" or ATT is going to hear from me and my family. We all carry BB's and wish not to be bothered by advertising. Living in a major metropolitan area makes us likely to see the beginnings of this program.

Money talks these days. Carriers are using every avenue to bring in more dollars these days. This was inevitable once the technology was available, but we consumers need not be forced to take this without a fight.
