Default List Price Too High?

The list price of the Torch is still $499 which seems too high now that the Inspire and Atrix are available. The Inspire is only $399 (no contract) and it has. 4.3 inch screen, 8 MB camera and 1.5 GHz processor. I believe the Atrix is $429 (no contract).

I wish RIM would refresh the Torch (i.e. Torch 2) soon.

I do know that the Inspire and Torch are both $99 with a new contract or upgrade, but the older Curve 3G is $200. When I asked about that every ATT rep told me that it's just a promotion to compete with the HTC Inspire and the release of the Atrix 4G. List price you posted was correct when I bought mine a week ago too.

I hope you did not have to pay Full price? I would like to get another Torch but the Torch 2 may be available within 4 or 5 months hopefully. The $99 price is great if you are due a full upgrade or a add new service.

I had an upgrade so that's why I went with the Torch for $99. I'd like one of the new ones coming out soon but probably won't be able to afford one for a while, so the Torch is doing me good for now.

I upgraded to my Torch for only $.01 on Amazon about 4 months ago....not sure what the price is now.

I love my Torch, but I would have never paid the full retail price....for any phone.

Funny/horrifying story, guy came in same time as me wanting to get an iPhone 4. He was in a real hurry and started throwing (more of) an attitude when they said his next upgrade wasn't until December of this year, and there was no way for him to get it at a lower price.

Dude paid $850 for the iPhone 4 and just left without a second thought...

If your complaining about those prices, Rogers in Canada is selling the Torch for 609.99 plus tax and 179.99 on a 3year. Honestly I wouldn't be complaining about those prices you've mentioned especially since its 2years and not 3.

$850 is two mortars payments for me, I couldn't drop that kind of money on a phone. $199 was bad enough!
