Smile It was like Christmas at the AT&T store today

Seriously..... we are on a premier business account because of who my husband works for. He got a Torch back in October and Thursday nite, had the unfortunate accident of having it fall out of his lap in the car into the gravel driveway and then he stepped on it on the way out.... makes for a badly cracked screen though totally operable. Anyway, for whatever reason, he was allowed to get an upgrade. Looked on line and saw 9.99 refurb but only in red. Then yesterday, the new prices went to $50 on the Torch so down to the store we went.

Got a new Torch, didn't pay the $18 upgrade fee AND the rep told us that our $30 unlimited Family Text plan (my mom's also on our account) can be changed to $30 unlimited Family Text AND unlimited calls to ANY mobile. Wow? Really? No strings attached, now we can call ANY carrier's cell phone in the US, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands for free?? Yep. So of course we did it.

THEN he said "how's the signal where you are?" (we're kind of in the boonies). We said perfect, there's a tower near by. Not 3G but if we're in the house, we're using WiFi anyway. "Oh, well you can have a free microcell if you want". Didn't even know what specifically that was. He said we'd get 3G and if we didn't want to pay anything, it would just go against our normal minutes.... huh ok, throw it in (I'm going to post a separate post about this microcell thing)...

So away we went... happy as clams. I couldn't believe it.

How did the microcell work out? I know some carriers charge for having one if you are in an area that gets medioun to good signal according to their maps.

Haven't actually taken it out of the box... really no need for it and haven't had time to "play"....

A few weeks ago I went into the ATT store to buy a microcell because of the crappy signal we have at home. When the rep brought it out and looked up my account he said that it was free because of where we live. Hooked it up and it works beautifully. 3G and 5 bars all over the house. Works so well we dropped out landline.
