Default How an AT&T smartphone comes to life

Found this to be an interesting read:

Part One:
How an AT&T smartphone comes to life: behind the scenes (part one)

Part Two:
How an AT&T smartphone comes to life: behind the scenes (part two)

Thanks to PG for the hard-work put-in (especially while some of us drove you semi-nuts prior to the release of the 9900 Bold Touch.)

All tripe. If the man in the article is the person who approved the Backflip, he needs a good open-handed slap in the mouth.

The funny thing is, all of the problems with the... problematic phones on AT&T manifest within one week of using the phones. The Samsung Evergreen with it's DON'T STOP.... REBOOTIN' nonsense that requires an OTA software push that will only complete maybe 15% of the time to fix, or x-teen Android phones that can't use SMS messaging or connect to cellular data after an OS update for reasons unknown, in spite of cellular data remaining enabled. The BlackBerry Torch 9800, 9810, and the apparently more-essential-than-water Bold 9900 all have to perform an HRT request to even get set up?

I honestly think a better selection process would be to choose the phones that have the least ridiculous names.

But then we wouldn't be getting the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket Science Detective Superman Action Force Five.

EVERY wireless company has their short-comings (and AT&T is not exempt) but I've spent my fair-share of time as a Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and (currently) AT&T customer. As I've always said:

To each their own wireless device (and carrier for that matter.)

What works-out great for one person may-not be the case for another person, but that pretty much goes without saying.

It's not personal preference. It's the fact that NOTHING is thoroughly tested anymore, since so many common problems appear right out of the gate. It's apparently up to the users to be free beta testers. Same goes with software. If ten thousand people have the same complaint, a software patch may be pushed out, but almost NEVER a recall. Except the Catchonfire... err. Quickfire, but only because the charging port didn't slap people for plugging the AC adapter in upside down.
