Default Exception upgrade question

I know usually one is due an upgrade 6 months prior to the contract expiration date. My contract ends exactly 1 year from today. I wanted to get the 9900 soon after it comes out so I have no idea if this is possible. Any help?

If you go into the AT&T store they can usually help you out. Last I remember you'll be paying the cost of the phone + 2 year contract extension + $250 I think....

Point being, unless you can get the rep to waive their exception upgrade cost, you'd almost be better off buying the phone outright.

Wow the add on cost to the device is $250? Used to be $75 when I got the Bold 9000 as an exception upgrade.

That's not too bad. Craigslist people will probably ask for more than the contract price. I plan on selling my iPhone for $450 so $250+$200 (hopefully contract price) will help me break even.

Sorry it might be 200...

Maximum PC | AT&T Jacks Up Early Upgrade Fee for Smartphone Owners

But yes ATT did raise the price up dramatically...cheaper to own a second line and just upgrade every year that way.

I might just use my other line for an upgrade and just cancel my current line. But, I'll ask if I can get an exception upgrade first because either way, it will run me $450 since my ETF is now 250.

Why not just keep the 2nd line and knock it down to just $9.99? Save for an extra upgrade. You never know.
