eBay/Unlocked BB on AT&T

I bought an unlocked BlackBerry 8120 from eBay a while back, but I didn't much use it until just now.

What hoops do I need to jump through to make this work properly with AT&T? My mom was using this phone for the last year or so. I know MMS never worked for her. Browser won't let me download the google apps which is my biggest concern.

I'm currently on an iPhone plan, but my iPhone is nearly unusable now and I'm about a month short of my hardware upgrade (when I plan to get the Pearl 3G). Do I need to contact AT&T about the fact that I'm using a BlackBerry now? Do I need to manually enter any TCP or other information? Or should I just suffer the next month with a crippled phone until I can get a new one?

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Ok, so all you really need to do is call AT&T and have them activate BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) on your account. This might be done by simply turning it on or they may need to change your plan.

As for the TCP/IP options, not sure. Sometimes when you stick your SIM card in, they automatically fill themselves in.

When I log into my account, it shows a blackberry instead of the iphone on my line now. So something was pushed up. And the internet does work a little. The browser's home screen with the weather and whatnot does load.

Customer Care has to change your data feature to a BlackBerry data plan. Only takes a few minutes. If you already have unlimited data, make sure to confirm you're keeping it.
