1. Pay ETF, and sell the iPhone to recoup some costs.
2. Find someone to take your plan over.

Those are really your only options to get out early. You could always buy a different phone, sell the iPhone, and ride your contract out.

I read this great article the other day!!!

Daily Tip: How to switch to a Verizon iPhone without an ETF from AT&T | TiPb

It talks about having the iphone on att and switching to verizon's iphone (can switch to any service provider obviously) and talking about how to get out of the contract!

If you read the article, it lists the same options that I listed above, because those are really the only options. I am confused when you posted this: It talks about having the iphone on att and switching to verizon's iphone (can switch to any service provider obviously)

What do you mean by this?

No carrier is interested in paying anyone's early termination fees, because anybody who quits in the middle of a service commitment is already seen as a liability, not a boon. Their are easily twenty other people who will ask for NOTHING when signing up for new service, for every one that begs for the new carrier to pay their old carrier's ETF.

My sympathies go out to Verizon, for all the WHY MY BILL SO HIGH calls they're going to get from their new iPhone mob.
