Consumer Reports: Verizon has highest satisfaction rate among major US carriers, AT&T is lowest
By Brad Molen posted Dec 7th 2011 2:28AM
It's annual satisfaction survey time for Consumer Reports, and the magazine has a few results to share in anticipation of next month's issue. It appears that regional provider Consumer Cellular topped the charts -- the survey rated scores from 66,000 online subscribers -- though Verizon was ranked the highest out of the four major players for the second year in a row, followed closely by Sprint and T-Mobile. According to the survey, the latter company was still "significantly better" than last-place AT&T. The full results will be published in the January 2012 issue. Your own personal experience with each provider may vary depending on your locale, of course, but 66,000 people have certainly made their voice heard.

For all the people I hear constantly threatening to cancel, saying that AT&T is the worst thing since the time Adolf Hitler called their mother fat, they sure back down when their bluff is called. Oh well, the grass will always be greener on the other side of the fence.
Remember that more than 66,000 people like Twilight, so there's no accounting for taste.

IF ATT is so bad, people should leave, simple as that. Stop complaining, stop giving them your money, when your contract is up, leave or don't renew.
Me I stay with them because ATT is great where I live in Detroit, and whenever I travel it is solid there as well. But if my phone didn't work where I live/work/sleep/play/eat/ I would def consider getting a new carrier, and when I have problems, they solve it....

I've said it before and I'll say it again...
They are just people. They screw up, forget, have a bad day, are ignorant, don't care.
They are no better or worse than any other public service, or the private ones for that matter.
But when all is said and done, they take care of the customers and offer finanacial apologies to your account, if needed or asked for.

customer since 2005.
i've never had a single complaint about the technology.
i've always liked "AT&T the People" as helpful to the extent they're allowed to be, and sometimes that's pretty doggone helpful.
but i'm getting tired of "AT&T the Company" and that's enough said about that.
i would guess that the poll results are skewed by folks who feel the same way.

As someone who has had extensive use of Blackberry on both AT&T and Verizon SIMULTANEOUSLY(9650 VZW work , 9700 ATT work2), I can affirm that the general quality of my data service and voice calling was far superior with ATT. Verizon frequently left me without adequate data service in areas I often worked in. Many of these locations were urban parts of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Verizon stayed mostly in 1x coverage while ATT maintained 3g or EDGE. Many calls were dropped or inaudible on my Verizon phone as well. Everyone who sits in a cubicle all week and in a city apartment all weekend may love VZW, but if you prefer to travel and stay connected, it just doesn't hold up. AT&T customer service and Data plans however are horrendous, however I would never consider VZW, or any CDMA carrier for that matter, given a choice.

I think some of these things you talk about, like signal availability has a lot to do with where you live. I was with ATT for 8 years here in the Denver area before going to Verizon. I think one of ATT's biggest problems became the flow of information from top to bottom and their getting out of touch with their customers as a company. The ATT reps were always friendly and as accomodating as ever. I ended up switching because my 9700 decided to die and ATT wasn't releasing any new BBs. I didn't want a Torch and I didn't want to downgrade from a Bold. Here in the SE part of the Denver metro I haven't had as many dropped calls either. All in all, I had a really good run with ATT. At the end, they didn't seem very BlackBerry friendly. They were 6 months later than Verizon and T-mobile on getting new BlackBerry product into the hands of Crackberries like you and me. I'm sure I'll find things I don't like about Verizon as well, but I must say that I'm happy to have moved on from the 9700 to the 9930. What a great phone!

I carried both AT&T and Verizon phones and was always comparing ability to make a call, signal strength, and call quality. Across the Western US I never experienced a siuation where Verizon was not better or at least equal. That's a lot of metro areas, but also driving between them, into the mountains, + small towns also.

Probably just a lot of iphone users mad and think it's AT&T's faultad any problems with them since getting a Bold 9000 on their nettwork in 08. When I had a Samsung BlackJacj and BlackJack II I had bad performance all around.

I think people hate AT&T because everybody else wanted a $500 deposit.
Seriously, though, it's the iPhones. All they do is drop calls, fail at email, and NEW FOR 2012: CAN'T CONNECT TO THE NETWORK BECAUSE OF AN INTERCARRIER MMS MESSAGE! AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE, THOUGH EVERYONE WILL SAY IT'S JUST AT&T BECAUSE THEY DON'T DO RESEARCH. BECAUSE IT'S FOR NERDS. Like the nerds in the eighties who had Apple computers, and used the "internet". What dorks. Let's all point and laugh.
But seriously, who in their right mind would design a handheld digital radio transceiver with a pair of uninsulated external antennae where the user's sweaty hands will form an electrical bridge?

Apple designed the antenna that way so we can customize our phones with snazzy bumpers. Duh! |

Consumer Reports? If Rupert Murdock doesn't own it, he should.
