Default Can your number be changed to a new phone?

I just ordered ATT and had to get the Red Torch ( wanted black ) and also could only get one as I had to do a deposit. I had intended to get 2, one for me and one for my son. He actually wants a red Torch so I thought later when I can pay the 2nd deposit I'd get the black and just change my number to the new phone and give him the first one. Can that be done?
Also 3 days after ordering they now have the Black!! I'm a bit upset about that but that's life.

You technically won't have to worry about changing your number. Your number is attached to the sim card, so just put the sim card from the red torch into the black one and you're good to go. (But the sim card from the black torch into the red one for your son.)

If you ordered (from AT&T directly) either over the phone or from the website, you can swap the phone at an AT&T store. It's best if you don't even open the box, but it doesn't really matter. Be sure to ask Customer Care if the store you're planning to visit is owned by AT&T or merely licensed.
