Default ATT upgrade followed by return..what happens to contract?

I'm with ATT and am eligible for an upgrade. If I upgrade to the 9900 but then decide to return it, what happens with my contract? So then if I find a different phone, will I still be eligible for the upgrade discount? Not sure how that works.

Basically I want to be able to try the 9900 and if I don't like it, return it but then still be eligible for an upgrade later. Possible?

Yes, you will still have your upgrade whenever you decide on a new phone.

I think you have 30 days to settle on which phone.

If, after all is said and done, you revert back to original phone (ya right, like that's gonna happen, but say it does for some odd reason), I would fight to have the 2 year contract taken off, so if you want to upgrade later, you won't be saddled waiting another 2 years.

So I will have to fight att and it is not automatic that they will undo the 2 year contract? Logically speaking, if I return something then it should put me in the same place as before the purchase, right? I'm not looking to leave att, so they have my 2 year committment anyway. I just want to make sure I get the phone I want at a discount.

Thanks, I've read it before but it's not totally clear to me what happens to the contract if i return the phone that renewed the contract.

You are still eligible to renew later at a discounted price as long as you return the device within 14 or 30 days depending on the device you got. You may have to pay a restocking fee, but you will still have your upgrade available.

Logically speaking, I would agree.

But realistically, I wouldn't trust it to get done without followup and/or prodding.
I usually see it it that it gets done right.
Speak with a manager, if you have to, and if that doesn't work, go higher.
