Thumbs up ATT rocks w 9900 - Kept unlimited data plan

Other than having to wait so damn long to get the 9900 everything is great. Kept the unlimited data plan from my old 8310 for my upgrade. Love my 9900. Glad I waited to get it. No complaints at all.

How did you go about that? I thought with an upgrade they force you to update to their newer data plans.

you should not have to leave your unlimited plan unless you get an LTE device or what Hotspot feature added or some other major plan change.

One major + for these not being LTE phones.

If you had the unlimited data plan prior to the new options, you are allowed to keep the unlimited as long as you stay with a "smartphone". You can switch between BB, Androids and Apple. As long as you stay with a smartphone and advise the rep you want to keep it, you will.

I'm on the Blackberry Enterprise Unlimited with Tethering plan for $59.99 (AT&T rate plan or SOC code = XBW7). I've spoken with several enterprise reps, and they all say that this specific unlimited plan because of the tethering feature cannot be used with a newer BlackBerrry such as the Bold 9900. I have a Bold 9000 now.

Regular/old tethering plans don't work with the HSPA+ BB phones - AT&T devised specific "Blackberry 4G + Tethering" plans so they can force more people to give up unlimited data grandfathered plans.

Hmm I didn't know you could keep the unlimited plan when you upgrade. I've thrown the 9900 into the shopping cart on att's site a couple times and they have always said my current plan is not compatible. I'm on the unlimited enterprise plan now. Hehe, funny thing is that my data usage averages lower than the current lowest tiered data plan from ATT. Still don't want to give it up though....

That is total BS! I have a family plan with two lines and I have a 9900 and a 9810 and kept both unlimited plans on both lines.

I suggest you walk in to a store and upgrade, that's how I did it and kept my two unlimited data plans.

Yep, I ended up going to a local store to buy the 9900 and asked then to keep the existing unlimited data plan. They were able to do it. I love my 9900 and with unlimited data, it's even better!

Yup...I upgraded to the 9900 in November when AT&T finally released them and there was no issue keeping the unlimited data plan. Sure is sweet having unlimited data when Bridged to the PlayBook using the browser.
