Default 200 text plan still available if you have unlimited BIS

So it looks like if you have unlimited BIS you can still get the 200 text plan for +$5... I've never bothered to check my options online so I was unaware of this option.

Does anyone know if employee discounts would apply to this option? Currently my data plan is discounted, but my texting plan doesn't qualify... anyone with experience on this? I don't want to just try it out, because once I give up my 1000 text plan I can't get it back. Basically, it could end up costing me more for the unlimited data + 200 text plan than unlimited data + 1000 texts if the text portion disqualifies it from the discount.

Thanks

200 message feature is not available outside of random old bundle packages. It's combined, and makes it difficult for transition to alternate smartphones that don't have mirrored data features.

Discounts on various features would depend on the features your employer recognizes for discounting.

I have the 200 text messaging plan. It was available last Dec (2010) when I upgraded to my Torch and kept my unlimited data plan.

But even that texting plan is probably a waste of money for me. The most I've ever texted in a month was maybe 20. I usually average 5 to 10. Everything else I do is either actual phone calls, or emails.

Messaging is not for how you choose to converse with people; remember that a great many people don't have phones capable of realtime email, or the people are too socially awkward to carry on a telephone conversation.

I use it primarily to check my bank balance, as my bank doesn't see BlackBerry phones as worthy of having a dedicated application created for them. And to blazes with getting an iPhone for any reason beyond re-acquiring unlimited data.

I hadn't thought about how the combined unlimited data + 200 text plan could screw me if I try and switch my plan in the future... guess I'll stick with what I have.

Thanks guys!

I recently switched to the iPhone 4s on our Family plan and the 200 MB data plan, which had the 200 text message option. I was able to keep the 200 text msg plan when I switched to the 2GB plan for my iPhone.. I thought I'd have to upgrade to the $20 unlimited text plan, but nope...

No, it won't make it impossible, just might take someone with an IQ higher than that of an ashtray to do it. Just know that you can even keep unlimited data with an upgrade to a full-on LTE phone.

If you plan to upgrade, ask if a supervisor can separate your data and messaging features. Don't ever ask to TALK to a supervisor to do this, though. You have a 90% higher chance of getting something done if no one actually has to talk to you about it.
