I just got my BB Storm last week and I love it. I really only use it for e-mail, phone calls and surfing the net. What are a few things you can do to make it faster? Also, is there one thing you can download, what would it be?

thanks!

Besides the tips in my first post I would suggest you updatew to version .113 it will make your storm operate faster, and less buggy. Also make sure to exit programs properly. When you are done with a program, press the BB button then select close or exit. One of my must have programs is viigo news reader. It lets you pick channels and then you run it, it fetches all the new info from those channels, sports, weather, news, etc, whatever you choose. Viigo

If you go into Options>About it will show you what version you are running. If you have never updated, you are likely running .75. Should show up as 4.7.0.75

That is the latest official version. If you are up for trying a beta OS (not officially sanctioned) you can find the appropriate links here:

.113

And here is a how-to:
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101...ting-system-os

It is advisable before doing anything major to your device that you do a backup. 9 times out of 10, when I have installed a beta, it has been a clean upgrade with no loss of data or apps. That said, something happened on my last upgrade, and I had to restore my backed up files.

My only caveat to this is: Please ensure you spend some time in the how-to and beta OS forums reading about it first before plunging in. I have seen too many new users who have just enough knowledge to be dangerous, doing things without fully understanding what they are doing.

If you have any questions about the process, this thread is a great place to ask, or you can PM me for further help. PK also knows what he is talking about, and will help via PM too.

Good luck!

That will be your desktop manager. You will need that for Backup/restore, synchronizing, updating OS's, etc, etc. Handy little program.

How to back up 3rd Party Apps
This should help with that, although I have never had to back them up. Still knowledge is power, right?

Anytime. Here to learn, and here to help where I can. As far as the differences between the 2, I find that it has improved the device overall, improving speed and function. Going into the list of everything would take quite a long time, my suggestion is to browse through the findings threads for that particular OS. If you ignore the 6 million "downloading now" posts, you will find some worthwhile ones in there that report actual findings. All in all, feedback has been pretty positive from the community, and heck, even PK has the link for download in his sig.

I was wondering if anyone might know why I sometimes do not get the little red asterisk message indicator on the main screen when I get a message. It will show the envelope indicator up top but the SMS or email buttons won't show the indicator????
