edit service books?
Hello! First time poster.

I read through about 10 pages on this topic and couldn't find my answer. Not to mention all the other searches I've done. Anyways...
I currently have an unlocked 9630 through Sprint. I put my sim card in through my regional carrier (Simmetry Wireless) and voice and sms work fine. I've worked with phones before (never a BB though) to know you need to edit the mms and wap profiles, but I can't seem to figure it out. I saw where to enter the APN, but it still did not work. After more research I learned about the service books (yes, I'm a true newbie to BB's). More and more research and I began to wonder if it was possible to edit the service books listed in this thread.
Basically, follow all instructions listed, but instead of T-Mobile settings, I enter my carrier's settings (which I know them all). My carrier does not sell Blackberry but I do have an unlimited data plan that works on every other smartphone I've programmed.
If anyone has any recommendations or advice, or even point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for helping me continue to learn.

And therein lies the problem I think......
Pretty sure you cant get Data on a blackberry without Blackberry data plan...Dont blame me....
Its an addiction!

Help!
Hey guys, I've been racking my brain trying to figure out why my browser wasn't working, but everything else was and I came across this post! I started following the directions, but I realized I don't have the Vodafone Italy service books.
Can anyone help me out and send me the Vodafone Italy service books? I tried to send a PM, but it won't let me since I'm so new here.
I would HUGELY appreciate any help!!!
Thanks! - 09-18-2009, 08:10 PM #2204
Hey Fogrocker, so my understanding is all data traffic is routed to Blackerry servers rather than my company's?
I did a small amount of research on "BlackBerry Enterprise Server software". I saw that it listed 1 account as free, and then more than one account would cost. Would this be something I would need in replacement of my carrier's Blackberry Plan? Again, my carrier doesn't sell BB so I don't believe they have a server setup. But if I can setup an individual server, that would be great.
Also, an acquaintance explained to me, " We have access to Blackberry Professional Server. I can do everything I want with that. We also have a relationship with a company that can provide Blackberry and Exchange hosting to us as their reseller."
Is this what I would need to set it up independently rather than through my carrier?
Thanks again for the help!! - 09-20-2009, 08:26 PM #2207

Is it safe to use this program to remove other things that the applications menu won't let you?
like, lets see...
email app (I do not use this nor will I )
voice notes (don't need it)
set up folder/program (all I've seen it do is set up the email)
Search
IM Folder
and such?
Are those ok to delete/modify on this program to free up space? - 09-21-2009, 11:50 AM #2210
Two Questions:
1. All my services work on the phone no problem, it is giving me the "its time to validate your email account" email. when i go to the setup and validate page online it says it cannot open page that i must do it online on a webrowser. any ideas why it would say this and where i would go to validate my email for my phone?
2. In the browser bookmarks there is a WIFI hotspot link. I try to click it and it imediattly every time goes from EDGE to edge and wont load the page. Is it possible to get wifi on this phone and if so how do i do it? - 09-21-2009, 12:24 PM

You're not on Verizon VZNav isn't going to work. For the EDGE/edge issue it's most likely the os you are using. Go to options about and tell me what it is. If I had to guess it's v4.7.0.148

I cannot get my PC to recognize the Storm when I plug it into the USB. My old 8700 works just fine with the USB and BB Desktop Manager on the PC.
I am trying to follow the steps as described on the first page of this thread regarding the crackutil program, but my PC will not recognize the BB Storm, and crackutil says that no device is connected and just closes. The USB charger works fine on the Storm, so I'm not sure if I have a defective USB cord, or if there's something that I need to do on the phone or on the PC.
The OS on my Storm is 4.7.0.148. Anybody else out there have this same problem, the PC will recognize other BBs, but not the Storm? Any help is appreciated - 09-24-2009, 05:49 AM

Hey, Thanks for all you do.
You will need the service books of that carrier. I've never even heard of them let alone have their books. You may want to just install a 3rd party browser like Opera or Bolt.Southern By Latitude, Gentleman By Attitude!BlackBerry 101

Ummmmmm...... When you "found" the Storm, why didnt you check and call some of the numbers inside to find the owner! I dont want to sound self righteous because everybody poops, but I dont think you will get much help here using a Storm that you "found"! I think you should make an effort to contact the owner!
