Default HOW-TO: Remove IT Policy without blank IT policy file

To remove the IT policy:

plug in blackberry to computer
open up command prompt (start->run->cmd)
type cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
push enter
type LOADER.exe /resettofactory
push enter

This will wipe the phone, put back on the latest installed OS, and remove the IT policy.

Just saw the post on using the JL_cmder to do it. While it may do the same function, not everyone has or wants to download a 3rd party application to do it. With the command I listed in my post, it can be done using RIM's authorized software. Also, the thread talking about JL_Cmder to get rid of it says it takes 5 hours, but the method above takes just 5-10 minutes.

This is useful for when you are selling an old Blackberry with an IT policy on it...or if you received a Blackberry with an IT policy. IT policy can limit what your device is allowed to do. I wouldn't remove it if your company put it on there, and you're still using the phone for company purposes.

If your device is still being used for Company use on a BES, the IT Policy will come right back down from the BES.

JL_cmder, CrackTool and others call RIM's Javalader.exe (which is a command line tool).

Javaloader.exe IS a RIM authorized and created piece of software.

Using Javaloader only takes "hours" depending on how the content compression, and content protection features are set on your hand held.

When I've used it, it takes about 3-4 minutes.

Default Restore data?

When using this (either) procedure, what happens to the data files? Are they restored automatically? If you back-up and restore, are you in danger of returning the same IT policy file to the device?

Yes, using javaloader /wipe will erase your data on the hand held (contacts, calendar, messages, etc).

When using the Backup/restore icon in desktop manager, yes, the IT Policy is backedup/restored. You can choose Advanced, open the backup file, then select only what you want, and restore from there.

This didn't work for me. My BB reset itself back to the set up screen but it didn't get rid of IT policy. When I try to set up google chat it says "disabled by IT policy". I also noticed that it didn't do a full wipe because my email adress and other info is still on BB.

Did you wipe? or RestToFactory?

ResetToFactory is the switch you want to remove the IT policy...

But like I said, if you're connected to a BES, the IT policy will come right back down.

I agree..
This is a lot easier than steps required by JL_Cmdr or Crack_Util
