Did you get my Private Message?

jmotl,
I am having the same problem that benedict3 is having. I can make calls and send TXT message, but I can not do anything dealing with DATA services. I tried to register in the remote host table and I get the window that says it was registered but I get no confirmation. I believe that this is do to the fact that ALLTEL blackberry devices all have a 4c at the beginning of their ESN and the Storm has a A0 ESN. I feel like there is a flag being raise so I can not communicate with the, ht t p://www.alltel.blackberry.com, Blackberry Internet Service BIS. I have even tried the change device option with the phone I am replacing and get errors. This phone may have been registered with Verizon's BIS I am not sure. Do you know of a work around for this problem? I would really love to get this working for my wife (anniversary present)!! Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions you may have!!

I figured out that you can write a prl as many times as you want with a pc but the Storm will not take it. As long as you do the manual NAM programming first and change to your SID you should be able to do *22801 and pick up Alltel towers no problem. After you first activate, you will wan tto do *28801 again and select option 2 to update your prl. It will give you prl 30033 which is an old prl. This is the most up to date Alltel prl that I have been able to get on the Storm.

After reading this closer I am almost positive you have something wrong in your username or password. Again, I cannot stress how important it is to make sure you have all lowercase letters! Be sure to disable Suretype because that caused me to have the problem you are having for 6 hours. Your username and password should be as follows:

SIP
yourmdn@bb.alltel.net
alltel

MIP
yourmdn@bb.alltel.net

Also, double check your BB registration ID. It should be set to 144 not 2004 which is Verizon's. If 2004 is still in the list then delete it.

Default Getting BB Storm to WOrk on Alltel

Found a great "HOW TO" and it works well. Only issue is with Data speed. Right now I show 1X for Data not 1XEV for EVDO. Its way slow. Does anyone know how to get the 1XEV working? While searching this issue I found this below.

"I talked to great tech today at Alltel and I think he may have spilled the beans on why we’re losing data when the Storm switches to 1XEV. Apparently for 1XEV to work, the Storm authenticates with Alltel’s servers using the MIP user id and password. Well it’s easy enough to update the user id (##000000), but the password field is not accessible that way. What we need is software to gain access to it. I’v tried QPST 2.17 and oddly enough that panel is not even presented for the Storm. So if anyone know of any software that we can use, post the info here. All we need to do is get to the MIP password field and change it to “alltel” (without the quotes). Once this is done, we’ll have data on the 1XEV system."

If anyone knows how to do this, it would be great. Thanks

Default BB Storm Fully operational

Have all the trouble, I found a major issue in my area. The Storm wants to connect to US Cell not Alltel. I walked around the house until the *288 called Alltel and all was right with the world. I still do not have full data speed but if anyone has figured out a way to change the MIP password, please post here. Thanks all

Just thought I'd drop a line and say thanks for the tutorial. I may be able to help out with the EVDO issue. I am going to be getting one soon to use on Alltel here in Arkansas. I'll let you know if I'm able to get it working, I'm pretty sure I will be able to.

Default Data Intermittent

I am a VZW customer who is a Storm lover. Converted over 10 people i work with to the Storm. One person I work with is on alltel. I converted his phone and everything was working great. But the problem is every 2-3 days i have to re-register the phone cause data goes down. Anyone having this problem also? did I miss something while setting the settings? In the routing table it does say alltel all the way down. running .103

Did you guys just call customer service to switch the ESN from your current phone to the storm? Or did you take it in to a local store where you know somebody and have them do it on the computers?

Also, to anyone who's been successful using the Storm as an Alltel subscriber and has data capabilities, which OS are you running? I'd like to upgrade to the .103/.106 hybrid right away with the color/keyboard fix since this seems to be the most stable OS, but if a certain OS is working with the data capabilities I'll use that one.

I have my Storm working fully on Alltel Network running .86. Everything works great except I only have 1X for data. I am not at full speed data wise. My question is did the upgrade to 103/106 fix this data speed issue? I already have full MMS, Web and the like, its just at 1X speed.
