I love the suggestions, but this last one didn't work for me (the virtual keyboard) Any other things to try?

I just downloaded the latest Google Mobile update for the Storm 1.

3.6.13

Works a lot better than 3.5.xxx

Acts like it used to, able to use a "full width" keyboard, in vertical orientation only, still doesn't switch to landscape when I move the phone, but it acts like it used to. Much easier.

I use it mostly for maps, and that's working way better, plus zoom in and out works.

Click the first address returned on your search screen, and it switches to zoom in/out mode.

Been fighting this for a year!

Now that I have that and Skype mobile for Vzon, should be set to rock for a while.

5. This is disabling your even log , also seems to save battery and increase speed. turn your phone to landscape mode , MENU> SHOW KEYBORED> TYPE /"/"/ > even log will then pop up >CLICK MENU CLEAR LOG > THEN MENU > PROPERTIES > CLICK ON THE FIRST ITEM IN THE LIST > MENU HIDE ALL TYPE.

Step 5 also has me a bit confused. Running the latest official 5.0 release from VZW (but using my Storm on T-Mobile), I don't get the option to show the keyboard from the basic tile menu screen.

I'm not afraid to admit that I am a noob when it comes to the BB Storm, but I like gadgets and trying to get them to work in ways they normally shouldn't.

After scrolling through 15+ pages of this I decided to go abroad to get the answer to this Very very common complaint concerning this post.
Therefore:
Note: Some updates of the 9530 OS will not present the ability to display a keyboard in landscape mode. If you have this problem on YOUR 9350, follow these directions:
1) Start with the Home Screen,
2) Go to your "Options" icon by pressing the "Blackberry Symbol" hard key,
3) In "Options", select "Screen/Keyboard",
4) In the "Screen/Keyboard" selections, make one of your Side Convenience Keys open "Virtual Keyboard"" and save upon exiting,
5) Return to the Home Screen and press the button you activated for the virtual keyboard,
6) In Portrait mode of that keyboard (it's the only way it will display, there is no landscape keyboard for this), whether Suretype or Full, press the number shift key and hold it to lock,
7) Now press the following keys on the number keypad: ,5,5 (that's comma five comma five),
8) And Beak's your uncle! You're in the Event Log. Good luck.

still no worky for me??? running the latest china version on my BB. 5.0.0.1041 I can't delete the BB messenger either...

I found out that "/"/ works on my phone to pull up the event log...
