edge to EDGE issue - Best Fix

I'm a new member here and have had the same problems, though I noticed the only time it went from EDGE to edge was while actually using the internet. ( I actually didn't consider it a problem until I read this thread in the first place.....was just resigned to slow data transfer and such...lol) My wife had the same problem. She has a 9500 and I have an unlocked Verizon 9530. I had tried every suggestion on this forum I could find and still nothing. We both upgraded our OS's to the hybrid 5.0.0.509 build and though my wife's phone now performed as well as mine, we still had the same problem. Didn't matter what radio, apn on or blank, Global or not, nothing worked. I figured being here in Thailand that it was probably the service provider until we both installed Opera mini 5. Now it's been a few days and it never drops from Edge to edge....always stays on EDGE. I think the BB browser was the root of the problem. When idle and reading a page, no problem.....try to go to another page and whoops! Back to edge and slooowwww browsing. Gone now with Opera. Back in love with my Storm...lol.

Just stopped in here to figure out the same issue. I've had other unlocked 'berrys which never had this issue (a couple 83XX models) but the Storm on the other hand has been a different beast.

The weird part was after figuring out how to get Pandora to work in another thread, was that it was streaming just fine in "edge" with only a single bar of signal inside my house.

Still changes at random. (running official VZW release of OS 5.328)

Cooking custom radios etc is a bit new to me as I never had to do this before not to mention that I use a Mac.
