This has been a great thread! I lurk here quite a bit, but haven't posted much (any?) since I'm not the guru most of you are.
A few things I took from the thread that might be a good synopsis for some:
1) Reducing the number of icons on the home page does free up memory. In my case I had 29 meg free after pulling the battery. I then moved my icons so that only 8 showed on the home page. I battery pulled and then had 37.1 meg free.
2) Switching options/mobile network to 1XEV *dramatically* improved browser performance. Pictures load easily 10x faster. No kidding, no exaggeration.
3) Using the memory cleaner freed up my memory from 37.1 to 37.7 meg
4) Removing Blackberry Messenger, Japanese and Korean font sets, Visual Voice Mail freed up memory from 37.7 meg to 41.9 meg. This is not as much as I expected, but is better than a hit in the head.
I don't understand why everyone is so bent on having as much available memory as possible. If I understood the post by the moderator earlier in this thread, as long as you have about 12 (so I'll call it 15) meg free everything is good. Am I missing something? I mean, the reason I got the Storm is so I could use applications and applications eat up memory! I'm thinking a good rule of thumb is to keep memory at 15 meg and all will be good.
So there you have it. Hopefully someone finds this useful! For the record, the Storm is the best phone / Blackberry I've had. For me it is my 3rd blackberry and 7th or so phone.

Now for a question. I can't get the browser to close. At least it is always in my task switching list. I've tried everything but it always stays in memory. Can someone post how to close the browser so that it isn't taking up resources?
