Thanks Civic... this helped, but I do have a question for everyone. So I got my storm about a week and a half ago. So excited; it clicked great, everything was great... the voice dialing EVERYTHING. I ordered a cute case for it and a great screen protector. So I put the case on and I am so content... and I charged it that night. (with the case on) I wake up in the morning and go to the phone to check messages and I notice that it didn't charge completely. So I go to plug it back in and I notice that the phone doesn't have a connection with the charger. I check the charger and the phone.... the charger port (section that connects to the phone) is melted and the port in the phone is fried. The phone basically caught on fire.... and thank god it didn't do any serious damage! (to my home) so I had the phone replaced and I ran into the problem of the clicking screen.
my first question is this has anyone heard of this occurring with the any of the phones (melting chargers and port)?
And with the new phone the voice dialing volume is extremely low (speaker) even with it being set to the 3(louder) setting. Any suggestions?

Folks,
Ok I have just done Civic's dot method, and I got a LOT of extra dots. Most of mine have prices on them, BUT they are THE same coding dots, they were just 1/3 the price. Anyways I am giving the extras away. All you need to do get a few, up to 5 of them, is send me your postal address via the email in my sig, or via PM. Hey the price is right! I even cover the 42 cent stamp.

So, Civic, I went out and actually bought these label dots, placed 3 layers and what a difference!!! Such a soft press. I did the torx, but I think it was too tight anyways, so the torx didn't do much. With this trick, now my husband cannot hear the click in another room |

Nevermind. Since I am new to the storm, what seems to be the trouble with the screen so I may know if it might happen in the future? My screen clicks well, and I havent noticed much lag. Maybe its because Im still a newb to BB.

If it clicks fine, then don't worry about it.

Works fantastic! Thanks for the tip. I didn't have the circle stickers around the house, but I replicated the size, shape, and thickness of them with Post-It notes. I cut the sticky portions into a similar shape and used two notes stuck together.
Typing is much faster now since the screen rebound time is less. This fix is analagous to a free mod for your car - it's amazing that something so fast and cheap makes such a big difference!

Right on Civic! This is a great fix! Not too extreme in the raised distance, minimal or no chance of stress or strain on parts, and can be easily removed. <insert applause>. I still don't have a tamper proof sticker from messing with the damn Torx screws so much lol

| | Innocase II
I just wanted to throw in (2) things.
1) If you buy the Innocase II it seems to fix much of the clicking problems, at least "my" clicking problems. I noticed this because I had the business card fix, that worked well I might add, but added the Innocase and my phone wouldnt work. I took out the business card, put the case back on, and vwola, it worked.
2) If you have the stickers installed and purchase the Innocase you may need to remove them before installing the case.
I just wanted to throw it out there.
Thanks for the thread Civic.

Civic, this is a slick fix. The guy at my Verizon store was using two slices of business card in his Storm. But... c'mon, people... the oldest Storms out there can't be much more than four months old, so they're still under warranty. Why would you want a kludgy "fix" when Verizon will replace it via FedEx in two days? Who knows what other strains this "fix" might put on the circuit boards? In some cases you might even end up with a ishtier device then the one you sent in (i.e. other problems).
This fix is not meant to fix major click issues for these phones. This fix should be implemented when all is needed is just a slight adjustment. Also, this fix has shown that it doesn't negatively effect my device at all. As a matter of fact, it's been documented on this site that some people who are getting aftermarket batteries that are just a hair thicker and tigher fitting in the phone also end up with a better click then they did with their OEM batteries... this is exactly inherent of what this fix does. Here, I'll find my other post I made in another thread about why and how this fix exactly works...... Quote:
Originally Posted by JRSCCivic98 The issue is not that the screw is not to be adjusted. The issue is that the screws actually join two planer surfaces (circuit board and screen) together and form a sandwich at a certain fulcrum point. This point is the click button for the screen. This point MUST also be the only "giving" point during the applied pressure action of clicking the screen in order for it to work properly. The screen click problems manifest themselves when one and only one thing happens. That thing is: when something other then the button gives way under applied pressure. The only thing weak enough to do so is the back end of the circuit board. RIM knew this, but gambled on the rigidity of the battery to support the back of the circuit board. Where the gamble failed is that they overlooked not the rigidity of the battery, but the THICKNESS of it. There are slight imperfections in the complete creation of each battery made. Batteries are not "cast" or "milled" so it's very hard to get identical thicknesses out of each one. Just a fraction of a mm off and you have a bad click mechanism. This is the design behind my fix. This is the flaw that it's designed to fix. This is why it works the way it does.
