| | Storm hot enough to cook an egg on....? Many problems....
So I really didn't let this bother me after being told by Verizon that this was normal, however after talking on my Storm for about an hour, or after it has been on the charger for an hour, it is easily to hot to held in ones hand.
I've ran the latest OS leaks here from this forum....and now run the stable version from Verizon. I've tried fully hard resetting my phone and then reinstalling the latest from Verizon, and no go. The Storm still sucks.
It has always ran this hot, and I was one of the people who stood in line for my Storm on launch day.... It has always been slow with random restarts right in the middle of doing things, so seriously, all I ask is why is this phone so buggy? Why am I in a 2 year contract with a defective phone. Why wasn't the Storm recalled? Why did BlackBerry steal the App store idea from Apple, yet half ares implement it, and then make no improvements on it what so ever, as its terrible in its latest fashion.
Sorry for just now getting around to registering, I know it seems a tad be silly to only register when I have something negative to say, but know I have been following the community since the release of the Storm, right after getting home and being blowed away how god awful terrible the OS was that the Storm was shipped with. For the early adaptors, if you think your OS was amazing on the release date of the Storm and claim to have had no problems with it at all, then you're obviously a BlackBerry fanboy unwilling to point out the obvious problems with the device.

| | Didn't someone point this out about the iphone in an earlier thread. And all the "so called" problems you are talking about has already been stated.

I the last person on this forum to say the T word but your 1st post here is Storm bashing this won't go over well with a few here. Yeah when i had the Storm is got hot during use especially talk time but it wasn't a huge issue for me my 8900 and 9000 when i had a Bold got hot as well.
As for the random reboots sometimes the higher builds fixes the issue (never had a lock up or freeze post .109) sometimes its the Storm itself. Might wanna try an exchange maybe. Good luck.
PS: ignore any iStorm fanboys who are surely to bash you in this thread.

I am running the latest version from Verizon currently.
I did get a little chuckle when I walked into the store a few days ago here in Columbus, trying once again to exchange it for a new device. Handed it to the lady, she tries to pull up the phone on the Storm, and it crashes with some exception error. She said that still wasn't enough of a reason to return it and called it a fluke Quote:

If my problems came up in another thread, and now I am posting them, then god forbid the perfect Storm may not be so perfect at all? Did Verizon give you some special Storm or something? Have you ever had a problem with yours? You seem to spend your time bashing those who try to criticize the Storm.

I have had maybe 8 random resets with my Storm since November on official OS releases. I'm not counting the bad Betas and hybrids...that's not fair! I also have never experienced any excessive heat. In fact, neither of my Storms has ever gotten more the lukewarm. I'd say your Storm has problems and needs to be replaced.
As for Appworld, I don't really understand your complaint. True it's flawed, but as I recall. Apple did not have a gazillion apps at first either. Plus, the only place you can get apps for the iphone is from iTunes. With a BlackBerry you can get apps from many sources.
And no I don't think the OS was amazing at launch, and it's not amazing now, but aside from some of the Betas I would never have rated it as "bad." Right now I would call it good, but not exceptional.

There was already a thread about the storm getting really hot....someone left it in the car and gps along with running multiple backgrounds and like auto shut off until the phone reaches below a temp. level before turning on again.
And, stop picking on the darn device. RIM probably other things along with the storm to be worried about one specific device anyways....hehe they are moving forward like their slogan but they're taking their sweet time =)
My edit: Reseach in Slooooooow Motion (bahahah)

Some people seem to be having lots of problems with the 9530. Anyone with 9500 having the same problems? I've been on .151 since May and never had any problems whatsoever. Just the occasional quickpull to stop the mem leak but that's about it. Mem has never gone below 41. No random restarts, none of that stuff. I'm seriously baffled with all this angst. Then again got the Storm with .122 so maybe I didn't have to go through all the other stuff you guys went through. Really, anyone with the 9500 having these kinda problems??

I got one of the new iPhones, and they do get hot. I was just sitting inthe living room, unfortunately for me I had the iPhone in my front pants pocket. Seemed like it was getting hot, but I was distracted. Apparently something internal got so hot it went into meltdown, something like a small fission reaction going on. Next thing I know there's a small mushroom cloud rising from my pocket and my leg is flying across the room. Blew off half of left buttock too. Luckily for me it seems to have spared the jewels. I'm glad I wasn't carrying it in my shirt pocket, that would have been a heartbreaker.
Wasn't enough left of the iPhone to be able to take it back in get it replaced under warranty, but the AT&T rep said they've gotten a number of complaints about spontaneous iAmputations, and they gave me a replacement without needing to see the original phone. I guess the missing limb was proof enough. There was also a hefty cash settlement to keep me from going ot the press, so if you haven't heard about the problem before, it's costing Apple a ton of cash to keep the lid on it. So please, don't tell anyone about the problem.

Ok and I am posting saying that it's already been stated in another post. Also to answer ya question, did verizon give me a special storm or something? Maybe, I don't know.
