| | The Storm DOMINATES the market in the following areas:
1. Shutting itself off at least 6 times daily.
2. Not having enough memory to perform essential tasks.
3. Slowly responding to any given command.
4. Inspiring hatred.
5. Lacking usefulness.

1. OS issue or hardware failure. My storm, pre release with most software versions has not done this
2. Keep the device clean and remove un necessary apps/carrier crap.
3. See point 2
4. Cant help you there
5. Depends on what you are trying to do with it. The device is still at hear, a BlackBerry. Business, multitasking, e-mail are still its primary tasks.

1. My Storm, complete with all software upgrades, continues to do this while Verizon tells me "it is not a known issue so we can't do anything about it".
2. Why do they have apps if I don't have enough memory to use them?
3. See point 2
4.
5. The device restarts in the middle of important business emails and phone calls, so how can it possibly be a useful business tool?

Contact CS by phone to request a replacement. They don't all have these uncommanded reboot issues.

No, we just like to know how many provocative trolling threads we need to find and remove.

Who are you referring to when you say to contact CS? I ask because CS at Verizon has repeatedly told me that it "is not a known issue so we can't do anything about it".
Your post makes it sound like it IS a known issue, so why am I running into this difficulty? And why in God's name does it have to be a "known issue"? Why is my telling them not sufficient to constitute it being "known"?

5. The device restarts in the middle of important business emails and phone calls, so how can it possibly be a useful business tool? | 1. I've reported issues to VZW ccare and been told "oh, I hadn't noticed/heard that before. Let me send a message to the rest of the center to see if anyone knows about that. Nope, no one responded. I'll make a note and you should hear from us." Lo and behold... I did! And was told by the "manager" from whom I received the email that he would talk with the "RIM coordinator" about it. I've never been told "welp, haven't heard of it, sorry you're SOL!". If you're getting that result on 611 end the call politely and call back, trying with a different rep.
2. Why does AAPL permit their app store to grow 10K apps a month when I'm not able to load 120K apps on my hypothetical iPhone?
3. See point 2.
4. Hatred. Over a phone. Really now? This might help Anger Management Techniques .
5. Can't really address this since in the year I had my S1, and the 5 weeks I've had my S2, I've never experienced what you describe.
Have you tried a clean reinstall of the carrier OS (5.0.0.328 if you're on VZW)., with no 3rd party themes and no 3rd party apps? If not you might try it and report back in a week on your results. Don't forget to backup first, and don't restore en masse... restore only your critical DBs (cal, contacts, messages, etc, to the extent you're not already syncing those.) Full restore sometimes = simply transferring a corrupt database that was creating problems for you back onto your phone.

On a serious note...
1. My defective unit has never done this: If you didn't do anything about this: THIS IS YOUR FAULT...Failing to act.
2. Since 5.0.328 I (after 14days) went down to 27MB
3. A Smartphone is LIKE a computer. YOU need to delete crap, and restart the device (like a computer) I bet you think your 5400RPM equipped HD is slow and *sucks* because you don't know how to maintain a computer, which =FAIL.
4. Being Free inspires hatred.
5. THIS-thread lacks usefulness.

1. So you think that having some "manager" tell you he will talk to his RIM coordinator about it is good customer service? Did he ever resolve the issue for or did you just buy his blow-off statement 100%?
2. I don't really care what AAPL does so why are you bringing it up? My beef is that the Storm does not work with apps installed, so why did they even include app memory at all? Everyone always tells me to get rid of all my apps and the phone should work, but if that's the case why don't I just get a regular phone?
3. See point 2.
4.
5. Why did you pay to upgrade if the Storm 1 was working for you? I can't say that the Storm 2 fixed these issues because the two times I've inquired about upgrading to the 2 and asked if the issues had been fixed, the Verizon rep told me that my issues never existed.
I have never had a theme, and never had more than 4 apps (FB, GTalk, Score, and WeatherBug), yet still my phone restarts. I timed it once, and it took 7 minutes to fully reboot. What a useful business device!
