Default Storm cleanup

Hi...
Ive got a BB Storm 9530 on Verizon updated to 5 os.
Ive got Slacker Radio and Pandora and Google maps.
Is there anything I can get rid of besides Slacker and Google maps to make this wonderful phone work better.

or is there an app I can add to make it more usable.

Its lagging a lot ,
The screen doesnt respond when trying when to answer a call
My Email Icon dissapears
The phone locks up
Im tired of pulling the battery out to reset it 4 times a day
Thanx..

Q : How can I make this phone more usable?
A : Use Quickpull to make the reboots easier

Anyone else find this absolutely hilarious???? ROFL

It's like in the earlier days of NT being sold as a server OS. MSoft was asked how a new version addressed the issue of NT requiring frequent server reboots.

MSoft's answer? "We made it reboot faster".

FAIL! Absolute frickin' FAIL!!!

- R.

PS - No bash on you, jacksonbrian - this is just SUCH a typical post exchange regarding Storm issues.

Did you ever upgrade your OS? You should try that and if you do use the shrink an OS program it frees up a fair amount of space. The storm on 5.0 is really a nice phone.

Install .419 and not .328. It will make a difference.

Are you making sure you shut down Pandora and/or Slacker when you aren't using them? They do allow you to run them in the background but they are resource hogs; use the 'shut down' specific menu option to make sure you are closing it and not backgrounding it. The only other advice I would have is to do a complete wipe of the phone (instructions are available on this site) and reload the latest .328 or if you are a bleeding edge person try the newer builds. Try to avoid loading from your backup except for core apps, do a fresh install for all third party ones. I use slacker, pandora, google maps, plus several other apps and my phone is plenty responsive, it doesn't require rebooting unless I install/uninstall an app. I don't do anything magical, I am even still using the official Verizon version of .328 and it runs great.

I have all the apps you have and a few more, no problems here with a slow response ...JEFFMEDEN made a good point, are you simply closing Pandora/Slacker or shutting down from the BB menu??

Use shrink a OS like we said, otherwise youll be wasting your time.

.328 is. 328 is. 328, there's no bug. Unless you shrink it, it will seem like your OS is faster at first, because your messages and registry will be cleared, but after a week or so, you'll be back to square one.

Just a heads up.

Drew - he should not need multiple resets a day on .328. Sounds like a bad install or something corrupt. Wipe and reinstall, just restore the bare minimum as someone above suggested. Should get him back up and running good.

the problem isn't the apps. it's the OS. it's bloated, and barely stable. with the hardware available, there's no need for the lag and lack of response. the software that RIM is putting out needs to be stripped, or better yet start over completely. until RIM does that, you're not gonna get any improvements.

Don't burn me on this, but what lag are people talking about? What unresponsive actions are happening? My storm was brand new in October of last year with 4.7 on it and yeah it was slow changing portrait to landscape. As far as everthing else it responded to everything quite well, as far opening and running apps and multitasking. It has only improved since 5.0

And as posted before saos does help w the bloated OS. There is a lot of crap that isn't needed and should be add on's instead of just being there!

the lag is opening apps, changing screens, that sort of stuff. especially when multi-tasking. and the storm 2 has it's own problems. idk if lag is still an issue, since i bailed and quit caring, so i quit following the issues.

but all i can tell you is the 9530, which is what the topic is based on, has horrible lag, and i don't think it'll get fixed before it's discontinued.
