Should I go to a storm?
I have a pretty much brand new 8330 Curve with Verizon, I have a lady who doesn't want her storm anymore and offered to trade evenly...honestly is it worth it? I've heard horror stories about the storm, but something about it makes me want it!

see if you can goto a store to mess around with one.
it's a love or hate thing, some love the click screen way of typing, some just hate it
personally, I love it, but there are definitely people who don't. It's all about what device suits your needs best.328

ok, like i said w/ every "switching to storm" thread:
it's up to the user its YOUR choice...not other ppl's choices
ask her if u could try it out for like a week or two, if she agrees, try it out, work w/ it a lil, get use to it, in the end, if u like it, tell her u would like to keep it, if not, then politely tell her u want to trade back
hope ya have a great time w/ the storm
personally, i luv my storm
o welcome to cb
edit: or do what king suggested above and go to a store and mess w/ it a lil

You have to test it out.

Storm is a sexy phone. Sort of the Ferrari of bb. Where as curve is not as sexy. But more like the Honda accord. Storm needs maintainence. It's a tough phone to deal with. I would suggest iPhone 3gs. But if you need a bb. Your current phone is much more reliable than the storm.

Once I tested a Storm first hand at a Bell store I loved it! Sure I've tried an iphone but I couldn't stand the keyboard.
Its personal preference...try a demo at a store.
I just installed opera mini on my storm and I can't believe how fast it is! The big screen is so awesome!

It essentially comes down to Bigger Screen vs. Faster Typing and somewhat less lag. Your choice, will you be man enough to make it?
Melodramatic I know!.75 -> .132 -> Lyricidal's .141/5.0 Hybrid -> BBCrackman V5 -> Lyricidal's .141/5.0 Hybrid -> Lyricidal's .148/5.0 Hybrid - 07-09-2009, 01:14 AM #10
So I switched from the curve to the storm tonight and so far I'm loving it. The scren is amazing and videos don't even compare on the curve. I can't type as fast cause I'm still getting used to it but I'm loving the sure type keyboard. Its top early to tell which one I prefer but you definitely have to try it for yourself.

Thanks for all the suggestions, however, I am an authorized Verizon Dealer, so I get to play with them all day. I enjoy the features of the storm and any blackberry at that matter. I am just concerned about switching because of any technical issues that may arise with the storm. I"m just wondering if it's really worth it.

It all depends on if you like having a keyboard versus screen size. Their are a few bugs in the current OS of the Storm. See this thread http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/on...ybrids-220394/
My wife has a Curve and I have a Storm. I prefer using mine over hers. I don't mind the touch keyboard, but find myself making the same typing errors on both. I think it has to do with TKS Tiny Keyboard Syndrome or MTS Meaty Thumb Syndrome, still being diagnosed

I agree. I don't find any difference between the buttons on the touchscreen and the hardware buttons on other devices... Personally I prefer this phone's keyboard because, when rotated to landscape mode, it is larger with more spacing that any hardware keyboards out there.

There is a reason she wants to trade you, the Storm is a toy. She obviously wants a reliable phone and has no interest in homemade hybrid OS's.

Folks,
2 posts were deleted, please remember....
from our Posting Rules & Guidelines.....
Post in the Right Forum
We’ve done our best to layout the forum categories so they are logical and make sense. When you are creating a new thread, do your best to get it in the right category. We want these forums to be value added and educational. The General CrackBerry Discussion and General RIM/BlackBerry Discussion are good places to post if you have a serious question but are not quite sure where to put it. These forums are less stringently moderated, while specific forums (BlackBerry 8700 Series for example) are more strictly moderated to maintain their quality and usefulness.
And of course, we also have the Off-Topic Discussion forum. This is the place on the site to have fun and talk about whatever. From sports to the weather to what to buy your girlfriend for her birthday (buying her a new blackberry is always a good thing), anything goes in here. Just remember to keep it clean, keep it productive and keep it legal!
Make Meaningful Posts
While CrackBerry.com is geared as much towards entertaining and connecting the Crackberry community as it is to helping solve problems and staying on top of news and rumors, all posts made within the site should be value added and on topic to the thread (even in the free for all). Hijacking a thread off-topic is a big No-No, and posts made for no reason other than to increase post count will be wiped from the site.
Personal Attacks
Do not flame, insult or post personal attacks against other users. Be courteous, not rude. Any instances or reports of harassment of members will be treated seriously. CrackBerry.com has a zero tolerance policy against this kind of behavior, which may result with an immediate temporary or permanent ban at moderators' discretion. CrackBerry.com is a friendly place - treat members with respect at all times. If you don't have something nice to say, do not say it!
Reporting a bad post
There is a "Report bad post" button on the top right side of each post (red/white triangle) or you can send a PM to a moderator.
We now return you to your regularly schedule thread already in progress! - 07-09-2009, 09:52 PM #17
You are crazy if you give up the Curve for a Storm. Simple as that, don't do it. My wife has a Curve, solid as a rock. My Storm drops mad calls in all the places the Curve doesn't... Same time of day position etc. Storm drops the call, the Curve stays connected with solid voice. Stick with the Curve my friend, don't get caught in the cycle.
Trust me, there is nothing about the Storm you want compared to the Curve. Especially right now, wait for the Storm 2 or another BB device. - 07-09-2009, 10:01 PM #18
I don't agree with you at all. This person should at least goto a store and try the in-store live demo and see how they like it. Picking out is a personal preference, not something you do just because other people do. You should really like the phone yourself.
As for your phone issues, if you get a lot of dropped calls thats a software or hardware issue that you should address. I have zero problems with my storm. You should really look into whats wrong with your device instead of branding all storms with the same issue :P - 07-10-2009, 07:14 AM #19

The current state of affairs is as follows:
Blackberries with a physical keyboard: Good.
Blackberries with touch screen: Not very good at all.
I do not see things changing any time soon, the Storm is very far off the mark. - 07-10-2009, 10:48 AM #22
even though the storm isnt that great, I give credit to RIM though for at least trying to make a touch screen phone. If Rim just didn't want to make a touch screen phone then we would all be complaining that rim sucks becuase they don't make a touch screen phone. Now that Rim did infact make a touch screen, we are all complining that it sucks, but at least they tried anyway.

The problem is that Blackberries have typically been workhorses, they did not do everything, but what they did, they did well. The Storm is a departure, it doesn't do anything well at all, and it unreliable and slow. The Storm has given RIM a black eye.
