lolz, lolz, lolz,
I guess the one good thing about all this anger against RIM is that it gets rid of these type of posters.... Quote:

Why is that?
Because the company that I loved has let me down. Really? please explain
Because the company that I loved is greedy. please explain again....enlighten us is to how....
Because the company that I loved has about as much creativity and imagination as a corpse. they're pretty creative in my book...if it wasn't for RIM, smart-phones wouldn't be where they are today. Surepress? Neat idea.
The trademark BB keyboard? Not only creative, but highly successful. The whole fact that RIM is one of the largest, highest market share smartphone makers in the world? They wouldn't have got here without some creativity and imagination.
I purchased a device back in October that was a good device, and it has stayed that way. No real updates, no real support and to this day problems such as the BBM group chat are still broken. No webkit, no faster UI, no support for more apps. That's technology my friend, get over it. If I'm not mistaken, there were a few Android devices out then with higher specs at that time, oh, and the iPhone. So in your views, the S2 was always outdated, correct?
I have a Storm 2 as well, and YES, I am a bit disappointed that my 4 month (I bought it in April) old device is not getting OS6 or at least the WebKit browser. But you know what? I am not bitching a storm (get it, haha). It hasn't driven me to the point of calling RIM greedy or hopping on a BB enthusiast forum to ***** and moan. I'm enjoying what I have and waiting at least a year before upgrading. ****, I actually have an Android device as well, so I have the best of both worlds. Have fun with the thousands of junk applications in Android Market.
Nothing, absolutely nothing. You still have a working BB don't ya? You can still make a phone call cant' you? An email? An SMS? It does everything as advertised. While it might be sluggish at times, Android and iOS also have bugs and aren't perfect. At the end of the day, you're still breathing, the earth is still rotating, despite maybe an occasional battery pull.
"well you bought it as is, and there should be no obligation to the manufacturer to update it. They actually have updated it, and RIM is doing their part to push a newer, faster App World and other RIM-made software such as BBM and all the IM apps.
Bullshiit.
Google has been working on getting updates out for the G1 since the day it rolled off the line. The Eris and Hero will be able to run Froyo, the Iphone 3GS can run OS 4. The iPhone 3gs can run iOs4, however not all functionalities work...if you're going to tell me that's completely acceptable then you're totally contradicting yourself
Don't give me that crap about you bought it as is. Every other company stands by their products and works to make them better. RIM stand by their products just fine. If something goes wrong with it, you can get it replaced under warranty. If you have comments or concerns, RIM has a Beta testing site you can join and a Panel Board you can also join where you can tell them exactly what you think. They tend to listen to people who give professional sounding, mature input.
RISM or Research in Slow Motion works to make you buy slightly upgraded half asss devices like the 9800 and the future Storm 3. The Droid rolled out with a 5 MP camera a month after the Storm 2 an its 3.2 and now Android is up to 8 and probably within a few months will be up to 10. Some Android devices can even record in HD. RISM has finally rolled out a Blackberry with a 5 MP camera. Again stuck in 2009. Who gives a damn whether it's stuck in 2009? iOS JUST got folders and "multitasking". Do you really need a 5MP camera or HD on your CELL PHONE. Get a DSLR or a compact HD camcorder if you're serious about photography. I'm a professional photographer. Trust me, cramming all those mega-pixels into that small of a sensor does no good. Just compare a 12 MP point and shoot to a 10MP DSLR and see which one takes better photos.
The icons in OS 6 are a slightly and I use the term slightly loosely upgraded version of the Bold icons from 2008 pathetic. They couldn't even come up with a nicer looking set of icons, while Samsung, Motorola, and HTC can come up with their own versions of Android icons RISM can't even bother to find some out of work Art Major and pay them a few thousand dollars to upgrade that out of date piece of shiit icon set from over 2 years ago. You just look for excuses to ***** and ***** don't you? Maybe you can just install one of the many themes for the device. BB's "2008" theme is just fine.
Their new work of art 9800 uses a form factor made popular...wait scratch can't really say popular, that the beloved Palm Pre made infamous. Wonder what HP thinks of that form factor. A form factor that RISM would have to use because it incorporates that damn Blackberry full QWERTY. IF they are still in business in 60 years when teleporters finally get going a RISM made teleporter will still have that damnn QWERTY keypad. According to many sources around the web, RIM actually started working on this form factor before Palm did but besides the point the form factor has nothing to do with why Palm died out. It's actually a great form factor since many hardcore BB users really do not want to give up the keyboard for a touch screen. It's the best of both worlds. And I bet you, the device will actually be a pretty big selling point for RIM
As they come out with updates for 6, it will probably drag this device down, because again, RISM is unwilling to go high tech and it is still using the processor they shoved into the 9700 a device that they will soon be replacing because it can't run 6, or it will run 6 half assed, becaused by the time they stick 6 in you might be able to run a solitaire game and the OS. Are you trying to calculate Pi to the nearest billionth digit while Skyping, surfing Gizmodo for Blackberry hate propaganda and view your favorite porn video at the same time? I didn't think so. Again, it's a damn phone. BB may be laggy, but at least they've always had the ability to multitask and organize by folders unlike certain competing OS's. ****, I wish RIM would come out with a device that "outspec" the iPhone 4 or current Android devices, but guess what? Most people could care less that as long as their phone does what they want it to.
I can go on and on and on if you would like? No thank you. We've had enough of your bitching and moaning. It sounds like you need to lay off the bitching and get a life. Go running or something, watch for cars.
Is it that difficult for them to use a faster processor? Is it that impossible for them use a better camera or a higher resolution screen? Is it that impossible for them to just stick 1 gig of memory into the damnn thing so that the device doesn't go completely out of date after 9 fricking months?
No it isn't. No it isn't. But did you consider that you really don't need this much hardware in a damn phone. Most smartphone users don't. The hardware in the Droid X or the iPhone 4 will be outdated in 9 months too, it's technology. Maybe RIM is trying to fill in the flaws of other devices. Maybe RIM is trying to continue catering to enterprise and business users with a practical device with a long battery life and something that is COST EFFICIENT. Excuse RIM for trying to save consumers a few bucks on a phone or a bulk order of them. Maybe they're content with not creating an "iPhone killer" or a "Droid X killer".
RISM is one of two things, either incompetent or greedy and I will not stand by a company any longer that are either one of those things. Go stand with Apple then, you sound like, with all the bitching that you would fit in there more so than Android.....enjoy that walled garden and the fact you do not own the device. Crapple is a much larger company then RIM, and you're not going to say they're greedy? They're exclusive to one carrier in the US. That isn't greedy? For the pretty penny they charge for their devices? What about Google?
Bye RISM enjoy the money you have received from me won't happen again. Well good for you. Maybe I'll just buy a couple grand worth of RIM shares to make up for their loss.
I will miss push email though. You can't have everything right? I'd rather have push email than a 5MP camera myself, or HD video.

I just do not understand the internal workings of my Storm 1. I have a picture of a hard disk type device inside there where one can store applications. That is called internal memory for storage. Then I have another picture of processor memory that is where the apps are loaded and executed.
If I understand correctly, there is 1 Gig hard disk inside there, but I can only have up to 128 MB to store apps. The rest is for what I thought the SIM card was for, storing pictures and other media.
Then the processor that executes code is 128 MB and I have not looked up the clock speed yet, but it is fast enough for me now. For this note, I am calling that RAM. That is not enough RAM to support the operating system and run apps, so that is why I am constantly having to "close" apps.
Not only, can I not have more than one web page open, but I am limited to how many applications I can run at the same time.
So do I have it right? I need to know for the next time I get a smart phone, no matter the brand; I ask the right questions before I plop down any cash and commit to a contract.
Unlike everyone else, I did not buy the Storm because it was a phone. They could take the phone part out as far as my needs go, but I need the phone NR for texting and MMS. No, I bought my storm thinking it was a "hand held computer" similar to the iPhone, only my carrier does not sell the iPhone, yet.

I have the Storm 1. I think me like a lot of other people are rightly pissed that 10 or so devices, some less than a year old aren't getting an update period. Nevermind the OS 6 not even a 5.2 or a 5.5 just nothing. Four devices so far are....pitiful. They've been waving this thing on and off in out faces since 5.0 came out. Honestly write a disclaimer and let is users decide whether not we want to attempt it or not.

| | Funny thing happened on the way to ...
Actually, on the way back.
My (late 2008 model) S1 bit the dust about two weeks ago with a permanent black screen. VZW replaced it without question, as expected.
I've spent a good bit of tweaking time with the old one, running through all the OS'es as they popped up last year and was always basically satisfied with the phone, but this replacement S1 is twice the phone "out of the box" that the old one ever was with all the tweaking ... go figure.
If it didn't have the buttons, I'd swear it was NOT an S1! Boots to 34-38 meg and stays there all day, battery life exceptional, with pretty much the same mix of apps (except without VZW VM and Navigator).
I feel like the guy that unknowlingly got the experimental 200 mpg carburetor in the VW ... Wot the **** happened (besides those two apps that is)??
That said, I'll be looking hard at the DX next month when "new every 2" comes up, but danm if I'm not starting to waffle on that score now with the new life in this old model ... a BB is a jones that's hard to kick ...

Well i had my phone a 9530 for one year or should I say 5 9530's in one year. mostly used it as a phone! but liked the other features the e-mail mostly. but when I had hardware issues verizon replaced the phone. setup another device 5 times. well been a year and out of warranty. I changed my phone got an 8530 yea i stayed with RIM i like BB's so the 8530 seems to be a much better device than the 9530 I only miss the screen size. and I still use it mostly as a phone. and e-mail and hopefully i will get some use out of this unit instead of swicthing all my stuff every few months

I'm just as ticked as the next guy that RIM seems to have been extremely short sighted with the latest product launch. But ya know what, at the end of the day its a PHONE people! Do you people work to buy cell phones and live and breathe your device? And yes, I get that this is an enthusiasts forum.
Why can't you guys just accept your berries for what they are and quit your bitching.
<End Rand> | Because when you pay 600 dollars for something your told will work and make your life easier but doesn't!!!! All it does is freeze and never does what they say it does!!!!! It tends to **** people off!!!!!!!
