Default Okay - a week with the Storm 1 - I am pleasantly surprised...

My beloved Curve died - well it's not totally dead but the antenna was damaged and working about 30% capacity. So, since I wasn't up for contract renewal for a few more months (and I am waiting for the new iPhone on Bell - rumour is swappable battery!) I was looking at having to shell out full price for a phone, or trying to nursemaid the Curve through. Lo and behold (and probably in preparation of the Storm 2 coming to Bell who knows or cares) Bell dropped the non contract price for the Storm and Pearl Flip to $249.99 (that was a $450 drop for the Storm ). I promptly ran over and picked it up.

Now I will admit that I was a little hesitant given the reviews I have read over the year in this forum. I figured between OS 5 and the one I would get being manufactured waaaaaaaaaay after the initial launch so hopefully some tweaking took place. I shrank the OS, loaded some themes, and was on my way.

I LOVE this phone. I was so bored with Blackberry and the Storm has fixed that for me. I was used to touch typing from my iPod Touch (although the pressing down on the screen took some getting used to) but I am typing almost as fast on the Storm as on the Curve. I haven't had any bugs with lag or the screen. So happy!

Now I won't have to renew my contract sooner rather than later. I am really glad I took the chance...and that not every phone is buggy

I have 2 Storm1s, bought months apart, from eBay of all places, and they're both TANKS. Solid, reliable, TANKS.

Love them both (one is for "testing" stuff on before adding to the "daily use" Storm on Bell). They have different themes, but mostly the same apps. Both run VERY well.

Glad you're enjoying yours! Welcome to the Storm-LOVERS club!

I am really thrilled with it. I actually like my phone again! I was bored and frustrated with the Curve. I have 5 themes on it (including iBerry Block with Slider which I love), plus Berryjoose, Quicklaunch (both carryovers from the Curve), Meterberry, StormSlider, Shazam, Faceook, Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 and startup at 42 Mb free. By days end I'm at about 35 Mb free. Rock solid and far less leaky than my Curve was. Plus, the price was right! Can't complain there...

You might want to streamline the themes, only putting on one or two at a time.

I use 2 FREE themes. iBerry_Bottom_Dock (available at Gemblock) and Mini-Bar my jaxjon ( http://forums.crackberry.com/f131/fr...-theme-329746/ ). The miniBar one gives us back our missing Media icon, thank goodness! The more I use it, the more I like it.

The odd thing is, any themes I've paid for, I've ended up not liking so much, or even using.

Yep the storm at launch and the storm today are night and day appart. I'm glad your digging your phone and have no need to marry in to a two year contract.

Ooooo thanks! I really like the mini bar theme a lot. I really like the iBerry Block Slider theme, it's almost a total replica off my iPod Touch menu. It's one of the few paid themes I like.
