Got mine at 9am and it has been stable, no reboots or freezes. Only lag I have experienced is when shifting the device from portrait to landscape. Best feature so far? The volume!!! Those of you who suffered with an 8830 like I did will appreciate a phone with loud ring tones and notifiers

Pro:
  • Screen is AWESOME, bright, great color, HUGE
  • The touch screen and the whole SurePress concept is cool, I need much more practice but it is no different than when I switched from QWERTY to SureType or from the wheel to the track ball - everything has a learning curve
  • Camera takes nice pics - not used to having one on my BB

Cons
  • The browser is not as impressive as I expected, the zoom function is neat but still tough to navigate web pages
  • Menu navigation is a challenge at times (to get the right item on a long list) but this should improve with my use of the touch screen
  • No Case included! Not even a cheap one - Geez Verizon, couldn't you spare a few bucks?

I just posted this in my own thread but i will share here too.

The screen in NICE. I have not stopped saying WOW that looks good.

The touch... uh click... feature is pretty cool. I like that I can select things with out commiting to the action until I click.

The Sound. It sounds great for what it is. I did not expect anything too big but is is better sounding than I had imagined it would be.

The layout. I like the way the phone is layed out and how intuitive it is. Except for some issues I posted on the board I was able to get to everything I wanted just by taking the logical direction.

The newness ( is that a word?). It is something new. Everything about it is new for me and I LIKE NEW.

The challenge. You have to slow down a little. Speed will come the more I use the device but for now I am happy that the phone makes me think about what I am going to do before I do it. I hated this at first but it has grown on me.

It's smart and for smart people. I know we laughed at the guy from the UK saying that the phone seemed smart. But, he is right, the device looks and feels smart. You can not take the cave man approach and bang away on it. You actually have to USE the device... Hope that makes sense.

Up until a little while ago, maybe about and hour, I was kinda of regretting getting teh storm. I had the Curve, and never had any real problems with it. When i saw this one was comming out, I figured I had to get it. I was having problems with some lag, and the tilt stuff not working, but after I read through these forums and got some tips, and realized that I was a complete noob, I made the right choice. BB could have done it better. I think they rushed it for the holiday season, but still, its a good product, and it can only get better.

I love mine!!! I do agree that it is a bit laggy and switching between portrait and landscape is a bit slow but with a few updates it should be way better! At first I missed my Voyager's keyboard but then I changed my settings according to those that our fearless leader Kevin used while in the taxi and it has been great ever since.

I completely agree. Just wish they would have been able to get some of the weirdness worked out before release. Oh well...

I was lucky enough to get one today - and I have to say, that there are a couple of things that I hope get better with the next OS release. The touch screen is somewhat "iffy" at times (selection, nav, etc). I can only hope the the .65 version gets better with the next release.

This is my first BlackBerry. I came from a Treo 700p. Only complaint I have is that I need to get used to the texting.

This was something I noticed as well and would say it was more an operator issue than a device issue.

Only letdown for me is lack of apps like viigo. The ones formatted for the other Blackberries just look horrible.

I love it...the click is pure genius. I'm happy with with my phone...it has a few bugs, but I know RIM will take care of that. I'm glad i was at the store early to get it.

i love it a lot. the software worries me, though. i was putting up with the lag just fine, but i hate having to do a battery pull on day 1. for some reason, i got a mashed-up screen with the camera and the browser both trying to operate at the same time, which then froze the thing, then went to dimly lit, and was unresponsive. i pulled the battery, and repowered it. it took a long time to come back to life. scary. i know this thing requires care and intention when it is operated...it's almost a zen experience (i love operating it!!)...anyways, i did not punch buttons like an infant until it froze...

anyways, i still love it. to be honest, the machine is way beyond my expectations--the click type, etc is amazing. i somewhat expected a rushed OS...it needs to get some fixes FAST.

camera could be better...the colors have not been that impressive...but i need to experiment in more lighting situations. in low-light situations, it's worse than my razr v3m--with or without the flash on, and with any white balance setting.

also, noticed today at work the unit was fluctuating between 1XEV to 1X, where my razr v3m had consistent 3 bars of evdo. Maybe the antennae is bad...maybe the software isn't recognizing the signal...who knows.

Where is the option of "Wasn't satisfied with playing with it in store and never purchased"

I had the $$$ in hand, but I had trouble finding Options, wtf. Lol. Going into the browser and typing an address... no thanks.

So far, I'm very happy with the 9530.

PROS:
--Easy to start typing with right away, with few errors
--Form factor is relatively fresh even for those proficient with the classic BB
--I'm impressed that the screen needed no apparent calibration

CONS:
--Transitions seem to be a bit slow (I don't know if this is "newness" or bug)
--Some options appear to be missing (like adjusting auto-sig in email settings)
--Missed call notifications appear as messages?

Unfortunately, I didn't have all day to play with it since I was working, but overall initial impression is very positive.

Pros

The clickable touchscreen
The screen resolution
Speaker clarity was pretty impressive

Cons
NO CASE!! My curve came with one. WTF?
Not too impressed with the browser
Accelerometer is HORRIBLE. The phone hangs when you go from Landscape to portrait and vice versa.
Sometimes the phone will glitch and the screen will go white. Can't do anything.

I really want to like this phone. Either Verizon or RIM needs to get their act in gear SOON and fix the OS. I'll be patient but if they don't have it fixed before the 30 day trial period, the phone goes back.
