| | Nothing multi tasks like a BLACKBERRY. Especially a storm on 5.0.0.230.
You can break out of jail all you want to but there is no magical cure for ANY phone period that will make it multi task like this phone. That's what makes these phones so addictive! The versatility. Now on .230 and man opening apps and closing apps is like...almost as satisfying as the reassuring click of surepress. Makes you want to open apps and close them over and over. (could be ADD). Point is, official 5.0 is going to make A LOT of people more comfortable with their devices as multi tasking seems to become less and less of an 'issue' for most. Once that official 5.0 rolls out with its clean updated precision zen, its tabbed browsing, stable memory, threaded SMS, fast camera, BBM5, working apps across board plus new 5.0 apps, plazmic 5.0, flick scrolling (possibly with adjustment options), perfect transitions, and blazing fast multitasking, no other phone will really be able to compare. All we wanted was a stable nice looking OS to really have a quality product, the only thing is the browser may take a while to come to standards, but atleast we have our TRUSTY OM and BOLTS. And skyfire soon hopefully.
Point is, blackberry (more specifically the storm) is where its at. None of this wanna be multi tasking BS.

It's really cool. When you want to switch apps, instead of doing it the Blackberry way and showing a small window with the various app icons you currently have running, the Pre will show actual screenshots and you can flick and press on the one you wish to bring to the front. Here's a quick screenshot I found:
In my brief use of the phone, I didn't notice the Pre's multitasking any "superior" to the Blackberry...just looked more modern and pleasant.
Too bad the phone itself looks like a glossy piece of coal...
EDIT: I do remember one aspect where the Pre was more convenient. Lets say you were listening to Pandora while browsing the web, sending an email, whatever, and Pandora played a song you didn't like. Instead of having to go back to Pandora, on the Pre, they have the basic controls already docked so you can like/dislike a song from whatever app you're currently running.

As far as functionality multi tasking I think storms it, but I do agree that hopefully a less basic app switching interface is made, but the current one doesn't bother me.

There's nothing wrong with the current bb app switcher. The Pre does have some great features though like:
The "paperweight" app for those windy days
The "toilet paper" app for those hard to reach places
The "door-stop" app for those annoying doors that never stay open.
GO PRE!!!!
The Pre

My iPod touch can multitask too... it can do all of these at once;
1. Play a game
2. Charge

Yeah the blackberry can multi-task... Then it will crash after about 10mins of it restart... then you do the battery pull to regain memory then you might get 2 more hours of multi-tasking. God I cant wait to get rid of this thing.

Can anyone give me a hint on why I can not sync my Storm w/ PocketMAC and my PowerBookG4...constant failure notices of "skipping". Disabled MTP-Media Transfer Protocol without any luck...any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Haven't pulled my battery in 3 days of use and it's finally down to 18.7 MB from 30-something. I think that losing 4 MB over the course of a whole day is acceptable. Considering that I'm multitasking up to 12 apps (including the native ones), yeah, it can multitask.
Have not had it restart or lock up for any reason on its own. Very dependable my Storm is.

Shouldn't a phone be dependable from the get go ? and having to EVER pull the battery from a phone to get it to function is a problem, right?? | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
