My first step towards liberation :-)

Let me first wear my flame suit. all right..all good now

I just took the first step in getting rid of my phone. Like some others, i have been thinking about it and i just had it with the constant freezing, lag and terrible voice quality. please keep in mind that it is my 4rth storm. Last nail in the coffin was yesterday when i was comparing it with a friend's iphone and it does not stand a chance. I mean iphone 3g was pretty good to start with and they have raised the bar very very high with 3gs. if you don't believe me, i would recommend everybody to check it out. one small demonstration of the google maps on the new iphone and i was sold (not to mention other goodies). let me not go there and waste everybody's time.

Anyways, i have taken the first step. I just called verizon and got the unlock code for my phone (which to my surprise they were very cool about, didn't throw a fit like Tmobile). Second i have put my unlocked phone on CL. I am hoping to get an offer by this weekend and then I'd make the switch to the dark side. Wish me luck (or not).

If your switching, it better be to the iPhone 3GS, cause if your just going to the iphone 3G your going to miss the storm.

of course dude. it is going to be 3GS provided i am able to sell my storm. I am going to use that money for the ETF.

If i am very optimistic, the next update would come in 2-3 months (based on prior exp) and 5.0 is not going to come perhaps by fall. i don't think i can wait that long. I have waited enuf already. when i bought this phone in January, that's what the VZ had told us and see where we are now. don't get me wrong, i think .148 is a huge improvement over .75 but two very basic features i miss are
- voice clarity
- typing lag

All 4 phonesshad the same failing voice quality? There have been times when people sounded muffled, but for the most part I've been pleased.

As for the typing lag, I've noticed it tends to occur when a songs changing on slacker or I'm using spell check.

Let us know what u get for it. I'd love to have a slick n smooth 3GS too, but even in PHX ATT's coverage can be weird.

its funny because i hated my storm when i first got it, but these experiences you guys are STILL going through after.148..its rediculous, im not having ANY of the problems i used to have, my phone has not frozen up once since .148. So in my eyes it is not a POS. This is a decent phone, youll realize that all the other touch devices have people complaining about them as well.

5.0 is not really going to bring that much.

Well duh on the typing lag.

You won't have that problem on the Iphone for sure cause you can't use slacker or have songs changing and type at the same time on the iphone.
The 3GS still does not multi task to do that.

As far as I'm concerned any phone that doesnt let you at least pull the battery out is a bad design flaw, especially when the battery life is as bad as the iphones. Unless you are plugged into a charger all day then your SOL....

exactly, and the fact that our phones can do multiple things at one time is pretty damn impressive, how do you think the iPhone would be if they tried to multitask on its current OS. Al the iphones would crash and Fizuck up.

well, as far as the batt life is concerned, my friend who had an Iphone 3g before he got 3gs, claims that he has noticed a considerable improvment in battery, as muchas 30% which is in line with what Apple has claimed.
As far as multi tasking is concerned, that's my only worry but hey, even on my current phone, the only three apps that i really like running in the background are mail service (default), browser(default), phone (default) and google chat.
I don't use BB mess. SO i guess the only thing that i am going to miss is google chat. Everything else (since it is an inbuilt application in iphone) does not bother me much.

And seriously, how much longer do they want us to wait for the next upgrade? like i said, i am not ready to wait for 5.0. By then, i am sure blackberry storm2 will be around the corner and i won't be able to sell my storm.

As far as CL thing is going, i put it up for sale for $250 yesterday. SO far one buyer contacted me but i am a little skeptical about her so don't want to get into some scams. I'd wait for a serious buyer.

Actually the battery on the 3GS is awesome. You talk about a freaking battery as a design flaw. What about a device that gathers dust under the screen, or needs a business card behind the battery and screws tightened for the screen to click in the corners or buttons falling off. Please let's not talk about design flaw. They made the iPhone with the same concept of an iPod. Can't take the batteries out of them and they are still the best selling MP3 players.

Exactly. How much longer is someone supposed to wait? The Storm is and forever will be crappy. Better luck next try.
