So anybody that destroyed their BB storm, want to pass along or sell their Send/Hang up buttons

My BB case ripped the send/hangup buttons a month ago so now I'm walking around with a getto storm. I really dig my storm, but having missing buttons is kind of embarrassing.

I've been by my Storm's side since the beginning. For me, it was a spontaneous decision to upgrade on December 28, 2008. I was very happy with this new toy as I was coming from a Razr V3m. Yeah, huge difference. I was loving being part of the touch screen revolution, I had the works. Touch screen, 3.2 megapixel video camera, accelerometer, GPS, tethering, a full screen browsing experience, and 3G coverage. Who could complain?

It was exciting to be a part of the Crackberry Cult, seeking leaked beta OS updates and apps and games and themes that would emulate the iPhone experience. The first beta update I tried was 4.5.0.109. It immensely nailed down GPS, sped up the OS, and many other features. I would continue with the future updates, including hybrids .143 and onward until the 5.0 OS was leaked. That was a great day.

Flick scrolling had FINALLY been implemented onto the Blackberry Storm. A dream come true. Shortly after, Blackberry Desktop Manager for MAC! And after that came the long anticipated official Verizon release of 5.0.0.328 which seemed amazing for the first week....

After that update, my Blackberry Storm 9530 became a ticking time bomb of self destruction. There were several instances where the screen became uncalibrated, and almost 90% of the time I couldn't type or make a simple phone call because every time I touched the bottom right side of the screen, it triggered the top left side of the screen, or some other wacky horrible variation of the such. It was unusable, and quite a deal-breaker seeing how I couldn't use the phone for simple use. Google Syncing Calendars was a horrible mess, it never worked as expected. Both calendars on the phone and server side were missing dates everywhere.

I always took care of my phone. Used a screen shield so I wouldn't scratch the screen, never dropped it.

While enduring total pain and suffering, I had decided to throw my phone in several instances out of complete frustration. Parking lots, driveways, my home, at my work place, this thing was getting chucked and dropped deliberately. I knew the end was near, and then one day my screen FINALLY stopped working. It was not cracked or anything, I backed up everything and went to Verizon Wireless. I have decided to move on to the next best thing they offer: Motorola Droid. I am now happily waiting for my contract-less Droid to arrive in the mail. And by the time the iPhone rolls around, be it this year or the next, I will use my available upgrade to buy the unquestionably best phone on the market.

tl;dr - I hate my Blackberry Storm so I destroyed it!

Attached are pictures before & after.

Have a nice day!

Annnnddd the point of this thread is to show that you destroyed your Storm???? Really? They already got their money so what you do with it is up to you. But for it to be your first post you decided to come on here and show that? WOW!

Let me ask you something? did you stand over it and do a dance or something like that? Lol

Just was wondering. Lol

If I wasn't giving mine to my little sister so she can play Nintaii on it, I would be doing the same thing to mine tomorrow. My screen is the same mess as the OP's. I have to alternate between landscape and portrait keyboards to type a simple message. And God forbid I am using BBM, because I try to hit the space key and it highlights the top of the screen and goes to the edit contact screen...REPEATEDLY! I have put up with this (and many other issues) for as long as I can. I was hoping for a Storm 3 announcement to go along with the OS 6 announcement but I think I am just wasting my time. I have to wonder if RIM will ever develop an OS that really makes people go "Wow!" The Storm 2 is not worth signing another 2 year contract over and I hate physical keyboards. The Storm 3 was the only thing keeping me from jumping to Android and I just can't wait any longer. My phone isn't usable and, when the thought of sending it back for a replacement entered my head, I realized that I no longer love my phone. It really makes me sad to be typing this right now because I love the community here and I used to love my phone as well. I am excited to get my Incredible tomorrow but I also feel like it didn't have to come to this. For those of you waiting for the Storm 3, I hope that the phone is everything you want it to be and more. If it wasn't for all the problems I have had lately, I would be eagerly anticipating it along side of you. Who knows, maybe I'll see you all again for the Storm 4.

Gosh, a grown-up would have sold it on eBay and used the money for their next device.

Default Here it is!

First off, don't know if this was directed towards me but no one will buy a storm for $300 when the screen doesn't function properly. Moving on...

R.I.P. Blackberry Storm 9530 (moment of silence)...(followed by much celebration)

One shot with .45 pistol.

Last edit: here is a youtube link to the video I took with my new Droid.

YouTube - VIDEO0007.3gp

Oh yeah, the back of the storm stopped that bullet, just FYI.

Well of course!! I did a fire burning ritual, and chanted like a blood thirsty animal in a circle in my garage. Face paint 'n all.

EXCELLENT!!! Yes I agree with the $300 resale value. GriddyC, I've got an offer for you. 1.5 year old impeccable Storm. Fully functional featuring a BROKEN screen, $300 - that sound good? ldeighme? Any takers?

You're a one trick pony. You post the same thing in all threads. Go enjoy your new phone or play on the swings maybe.

I have a Storm 1. I've had one for nearly 18 months. Other than a screen that died on one (which was probably my fault), I've had no problems after the first couple of iterations of the OS. No messing with screws, no random reboots, no dust under the screen, no battery pulls (I do a soft reset every couple of weeks), decent battery life, functional apps that meet my needs and a phone that functions perfectly 999/1000 times I ask it to.

I admit I'm almost ready for a new phone. I also admit the browsing experience on my Storm 1 is not early as good as that on my laptop (duh). It also pales in comparison to that on my iPod Touch, but I'd never consider an iPhone on AT&T. I will consider Android, but I'm likely to stay with what has worked well for me.
