| | I've HAD it with my Blackberry Storm 9530! The end has come.
I've been by my Storm's side since the beginning. For me, it was a spontaneous decision to upgrade on December 28, 2008. I was very happy with this new toy as I was coming from a Razr V3m. Yeah, huge difference. I was loving being part of the touch screen revolution, I had the works. Touch screen, 3.2 megapixel video camera, accelerometer, GPS, tethering, a full screen browsing experience, and 3G coverage. Who could complain?
It was exciting to be a part of the Crackberry Cult, seeking leaked beta OS updates and apps and games and themes that would emulate the iPhone experience. The first beta update I tried was 4.5.0.109. It immensely nailed down GPS, sped up the OS, and many other features. I would continue with the future updates, including hybrids .143 and onward until the 5.0 OS was leaked. That was a great day. Flick scrolling had FINALLY been implemented onto the Blackberry Storm. A dream come true. Shortly after, Blackberry Desktop Manager for MAC! And after that came the long anticipated official Verizon release of 5.0.0.328 which seemed amazing for the first week....
After that update, my Blackberry Storm 9530 became a ticking time bomb of self destruction. There were several instances where the screen became uncalibrated, and almost 90% of the time I couldn't type or make a simple phone call because every time I touched the bottom right side of the screen, it triggered the top left side of the screen, or some other wacky horrible variation of the such. It was unusable, and quite a deal-breaker seeing how I couldn't use the phone for simple use. Google Syncing Calendars was a horrible mess, it never worked as expected. Both calendars on the phone and server side were missing dates everywhere.
I always took care of my phone. Used a screen shield so I wouldn't scratch the screen, never dropped it.
While enduring total pain and suffering, I had decided to throw my phone in several instances out of complete frustration. Parking lots, driveways, my home, at my work place, this thing was getting chucked and dropped deliberately. I knew the end was near, and then one day my screen FINALLY stopped working. It was not cracked or anything, I backed up everything and went to Verizon Wireless. I have decided to move on to the next best thing they offer: Motorola Droid. I am now happily waiting for my contract-less Droid to arrive in the mail. And by the time the iPhone rolls around, be it this year or the next, I will use my available upgrade to buy the unquestionably best phone on the market. tl;dr - I hate my Blackberry Storm so I destroyed it!
Attached are pictures before & after.
Have a nice day!

Yep, might have to do the same. Until a week ago I had gone through 5 storms in 16 months or so. Recently my screen began getting stuck and not working properly...
I contacted VZW and they sent me yet another replacement. After activating and beginning the transfer process, I plug the new device in and boom! Restarts
Contacted again and sent another phone. Should have just plugged it in first but activated first and Boom! Restarts. I even tried to force an OS upgrade lol. This resulted in a bricked piece of crap that restarts when I plug it in.
At this point I am frustrated and beginning a long stretch of consecutive work days. I called and the rep I spoke with said he would get a Storm 2 sent to me the next day but it had to be placed with tech support because of warranty replacement. Tech support told me they couldn't do that but I could 'purchase' a certified pre-owned device or use my NE2. I was trying to hold out for a new Blackberry w/ 6.0 OS as my contract isn't up until Nov.
I bit the bullet and had them send me another replacement. Got home tonight and guess what?...Restarts. F**k it, this phone has put enough gray hairs on my head. If I upgrade, I'm gonna put as many bullets as I can into this thing before it turns to dust.
I don't want to use my NE2 if something worth being called a BB is going to be released in the next few months but the Increddible looks pretty sweet. I am concerned about the battery life though. I love BB but I want a phone worth my $200 and I heard the Increddible is it. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

It has a 1GHz processor which probably rocks on the Android OS.
Regarding your Storm issues, that's awful. Although it really sounds like whatever computer you're using is causing the problem. More specifically, the USB cable or something. I've had shotty firewire 400-800 cables short out my computer before, and to me it sounds like whenever you plug it in it shorts out the storm, and of course every blackberry is programmed to reboot immediately when power/battery is readily available.
If you still have a warranty, and you're blowin through these phones, find out if you can live with a Storm 2 until Nov. I think the new model is generally a better make, and will at LEAST tide you over until the iPhone comes...but hey that could be wishful thinking.
I'm pro-droid at the moment, so I bought one from eBay with a clean ESN so I could use it with Verizon without a contract. I'd recommend either trying out the Storm 2, or getting a cheap Curve 8330 or something to hold you over until your next upgrade. If you can, snag a new phone with Android on it. I got my Droid for $300.
Best of luck to ya, and when you do, PLEASE post pictures documenting the death of your Storm

I'm positive there are no problems with my pc or the cable. I can plug my screen defective storm in with no problems. I just did an OS update yesterday (yeah I know I'm junking it but made a good test model). Transfers data without a hitch. Same with wife's and friend's storms. But the last 3 phones verizon sent me all do the same thing as soon as they're plugged in. White error screen then re-boot.
Sorry, not an iguy. I barely like using an iPod and don't own ianything. I have in the past but didn't care for it.
I will surely post pictures. Thanks!

My wife dropped hers for the 900th time and it refused to come back to life, they replaced it in-store with a refurb from Mexico that has terrible screen click and overall doesn't run that great. Mine had a faulty buzzer about three weeks later and they replaced it too, in-store, but with a Canadian phone that has an absolutely phenominal screen click, I put a feather case on it and have never had to take it off to do a battery pull (and I don't use that stupid soft-pull app) and it's never showed signs of slowing down. I was thinking about getting the Incredible when I was at the 1 year mark with the storm but this one runs so well that I will probably just wait til they have a better price or a BOGO deal on them before I bother.
