| | The iPhone and why I don't like it
Any smartphone that cannot multitask is a of crap!
I used a friends 3G on a trip 'cause it had telenav (ATT Navigator) and everytime I wanted to make a call or some other function, I had to end the nav session, do the other function, like make a call, and restart the nav app.
What a waste.. It's a pretty phone with nice apps but for functionality, and I mean real functionality it isn't for me.
It looks like Apple still did not learn, the iPad does not have the ability to multitask either and it's getting blasted in the mags.
So for all of the Storm's issues, and there are many, I will take it any day
Just my 2 cents..
-Jeff

At least the Storm is able to multi-task. I don't think you can call something a smartphone if it can't to a few things at once. That just doesn't sound very smart.

I don't often muti-task on my Storm, but it IS nice to get emails and texts while streaming NPR or accessing Pandora.

Jailbreak the iPhone and it will outperform the Storm (and most BBs) all day, every day.

Um yea iphone got an update but when it came out you couldn't even type in landscape, send mms, or video camera and still can't multi task and there's still a debate on which touchscreen functionality is better..
If you can't agree that there both good devices and your iphone is so much better you probably drive a nice *** looking car new paint job and spoiler with 300,000 miles on it don't you?

I can also send you a GoogleVoice messa.... OH! I'm sorry, you can't get that app. Even with jailbreaking?
What about if I just put my music on this MicroSD card and give it t... Uh-oh. You can't use one of these?!?!
It's okay. I can just send you the link on BB Messen... Don't you have a messenger service that you don't have to download or jailbreak then download?
Well, I can just point you through Oprea or Bol... You can only use Safari? What the ****?
I guess Safari is okay since it's on the world's fastest networ... The iPhone is the cause of AT&T's network problems?
Well, at least Flash is in the futur... No? Apple refuses to even consider working with Macromedia because their afraid they will lose money?
What about the camera flash... I don't even have anything in my arsenal of snappy sarcastic comebacks for this one. It is just sad.
Well, now you can download a nice dictionar... You can only do this with jailbreaking since Apple doesn't think you need to know about "dirty words."
And maybe, since you don't live in the ocean, your phone will keep it's warrant... WATER DAMAGE!?!?!? Where the **** did this come from?
At least jailbreaking doesn't void your warranty.
And since you can't shower with your iPhone, at least you can smok... Nope.
And what about that Steve Jobbs and his "people don't read anymo...." Oh they do!!!
At least iPhone users can now send and recieve MMS messages now and do video. And to think, they only had to wait two years before that was available to them. It wouldn't be such a shame if my Nokia bar phone (in 2002) didn't do both of these things. It wasn't even a smartphone...

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | Thank you. I'm just tired of people calling the iPhone a smartphone. Just because it does MP3's and the internet doesn't make it a smartphone. My Moto Razr did both of those and it wasn't a smartphone and it didn't spontaneously burst into flames or explode.

It wouldn't be such a shame if my Nokia bar phone (in 2002) didn't do both of these things. It wasn't even a smartphone... | I agree with a lot of this. I am playing devil's advocate here because I did choose a BB over the iphone.
a) Safari kicks ***. Copying and pasting in safari is easy. Pasting a link into opera mini 5 beta 2 is misery. and bolt isn't even smart enough to bring the keyboard up when I click the URL bar. Going into a menu to hit show keyboard is a joke, and the fonts look worse than what is bundled with DOS 3.0. Both are of limited use. Disabling inline editing in the new OM5 beta doesn't seem to work. Bye bye pasting addresses into hopstop.com
b) The water sensors in almost every modern phone are over sensitive in my experience. Also, people lie. I know. I see it everyday, I offer a service for water damage repair on certain boards and people will swear to high heaven nothing has been spilled until I open it up and show them the coffee stain that SMELLS LIKE HAZELNUT on the aluminum bottom casing of the laptop. This happens so damn often. Some people lie to themselves so much that they begin to believe it. Some people just lend stuff out to people who lie to them. But I don't think the liquid sensors point is worth mentioning.
c) On the storm you can see the key you're pressing. Oh wait, you can't. Instead of popping up the letter you're on, it lights up the letter you're touching. This would be great if we had translucent fingers we could see through. Unfortunately, we don't, so you have no idea what letter you are hitting until you hit it.
d) On the iPhone, you can see IMAP folders on different accounts. The storm is a blackberry which is the best business email phone out there, so you'd think you could do this. NOPE! No IMAP folders. Your email is delegated to being a complete cluster, and if you have filters in place to put mail into subfolders, enjoy the extra work to integrate your email setup with your crippled "smartphone." Having BES only allows you ONE account with IMAP folders functionality, and it costs you.
This is post .328. If I did it with OS 4.7, I could write a book.
Also, have someone call you RIGHT as you tell the storm to begin playing a song. If the timing is right, you'll see the storm is no multitasker either.
I do agree on the microsd card. Any device that touts its memory for media but doesn't work as a UMS device is useless to me. I like simplicity. I've never used an ipod or iphone. Until it works as a UMS device to drag and drop music onto, I don't see myself using it.

If you can even get service, it usually isn't 3G service. And if it is 3G service there are so many people using the iPhone that there isn't enough bandwidth to go around. Quote:

But I don't think the liquid sensors point is worth mentioning. | But Apple was turning people away with "bricked" iPhones due to sweat and shower steam. The consumer was simply told to buy a new device and take better care of it in the future. That is a little excessive for a company that cares about the people so much. Quote:

Now, I don't mean to be harsh, but by my count it is:
The iPhone = 1
The BlackBerry = 14
The match isn't even fair...
And don't forget that you can get the BB on almost any network of your choosing and you won't have to sacrafice network coverage and speed for a "cool" phone. That puts 15 points in the BB corner.
