Fixing broken charger port
I've sucessfully diagnosed the problem with my Storm as being a faulty charger port. I've currently got a replacement charger port, but the soldering seems tiny and microscopic. I don't have much experience in soldering myself so my best bet is to give to to one of my old engineering teachers who obviously has a lot of experience. However, he does not have any specialised equipment and just a standard soldering iron.
Will it be worth attempting the repair?
I have read around on the internet that it is very easy to blow up your motherboard, and thats the last thing I want.
I've already got a replacement phone and just waiting for my external battery charger, going to sell the Storm soon (Unbelievably, the phone is TWO WHOLE YEARS and I only encounter a problem now!). Is it worth me (or my engineering teacher) taking the risk of attempting the repair or should I just give it to a repair shop?
Worst comes to worst, I can sell it off as it is with the external battery charger |
