Default my droid 2 has arrived and I am impressed

I'm already aware the grass isn't greener on the android side but I'm tired of this 9530. The droid 2 seems to be the best touchscreen option for vzw right now. I googled something along the lines of "upcoming touchscreen Verizon blackberry" and all I found is two year old links about, you guessed it, the 9530!

I played around with a torch and OS 6 looks promising but come on Verizon, a storm 2 refresh is the best we got on the horizon?! AT&T is not an option for me since their coverage is spotty at best where I live. At this point I'm hoping something comes along during my trial period I can switch to unless this droid blows me away but I'm not holding my breath on either...

AFAIK RIM has nothing coming up that'll be big with VZW within the next 30 days.

Dude, did you not read the reviews? Did you use the torch? OS6 is dead in the water.

Are you on BES? If the answer is no, get the **** outta there before you get stuck on a busted platform for the next two years.

I went to a Droid X and I love it. The Android OS has so many capabilities and really has a lot more room for growth, I feel than just about any platform out there. I will say that the HTC Android devices have some REALLY cool widgets, so I wouldn't discount the Incredible. That was my other choice over the Droid X, but I like Motorola phones and so far (< 30 days into it), I love this phone. The screen is just flat out awesome.

As for RIM, I don't know about the Torch. They really just made the device what it should have been for at least the Storm 2. It's behind and unless RIM does something drastic, I'd say they will continue to lose market share in the smart phone market. What would be killer is if they would work to integrate the Android OS with their phones. THAT is a Blackberry I'd buy in a heartbeat. The Android OS is just amazing and RIM really should look to partner with them to regain the market share they are losing.

Once you get really comfortable with it you will see that it can do anything, and more, than a Blackberry. There are some really good productivity apps out there.

It is a learning curve for sure but what I like the best so far is that everything just, well, works. On my storm if I found say a video online, I would consider about a 50/50 chance the storm media player would recognize it. Apps like facebook and twitter are way better and I can load so many more apps than I could before. Even next to os6 this seems the better choice for me.

I left my BB Tour for the Dx and after it broke I got another. After it broke, I went to the Bold 9650 but missed a touchscreen so I came to my Storm. I absolutely love my Storm, and in looking forward to the Storms 3 and 4.

Trust me, the grass isn't always greener when the devices break. And two within 30 days is unacceptable.

I wont go to android simply because its 'powered by google'. i dont like the fact that google knows more about me than i do simply from what i search on the internet. not that i have anything to hide, but them keeping records of what everybody searches is not my idea of privacy. i read a story a couple of months ago on one of the cell phone websites about an app that someone had submitted to android and it was approved. they found out it was some kind of dud app and google remotely wiped it from every android-based device that had downloaded it. im not a full blown tech geek, but that just dont sound right to me. i can understand being able to see what a phone has downloaded or see what sites you've been to and all that, but being able to remotely remove things off of your phone...???

I hear what you're saying but you may wanna take a look around the forums and you may find a few replacement storm threads as well... I don't know how some people stick by a device after so many replacements. I was one of the lucky ones with a rock solid storm. Had my one and only original. For almost two years. On a side note, my d2 is running lightning fast and now that im used to this keyboard I think im happy with my choice.

Update: just thought I'd check in and share some interesting info. As I near my 30 day point of no return I realized I haven't pulled the battery once on this device. I have 3 times as many apps installed than I ever could on my Storm and I just checked the advanced task killer app and I have 192mb of app memory available! Not to mention I have both nes and snes emulators installed with all my old time fave games (on my sd card).

I'm a big kid and as I've stated before I don't use my phones for business so for me, this droid is the way to go. I do have to say that the battery life seems worse but I really haven't put it down either so I guess it's to be expected...
