I just got back from Verizon and my replacement is on it's way. I always thought the camera was subpar until I started looking at other's examples. Mine was grainy and fuzzy. It turns out my autofocus wasn't working so they are sending a new one. If you have bad results, take it into Verizon and show them compared to the display model. Especially on close up pics. They might replace it do to a bad focuser.

I just got my Storm yesterday. Thus far, I am rather pleased with it. However, my camera has yet to actually work. Everytime I try to load it up, it tells me that I must close other applications and try again. I've tried manually finding running applications, doing a battery pull, and a soft reset. I can't figure out why it's not working, any help would be would be appreciated.

So, in my understanding... other than the fact that it's a 3.2 MP camera with flash and autofocus.. there's a delay of 2-4 seconds, the flash does weird things and autofocus doesn't always do his job, right? Is there anyone who knows if the latest update has solved these issues? Is RIM adressing these problems? If there hasn't been a real fix yet... anyone who can guess how long it will take for it to be fixed? I don't want to spend all that money on a device that isn't yet what it's supposed to be... the Iphone has only 2MP and no flash.. but as long as it works as it should, it's still a better choice than the Storm? Or not?

It would be nice for the people to mention which OS they are using... saying "Mine works instantly" or "Mine lags for 2 seconds" doesn't help anyone.

I had .85 for a few days and the camera was quick and took much better pictures. I am back to .75 and the camera blows really horribly... It's really not even worth trying to take pictures. My LG Dare took INCREDIBLE pictures, and it was a 3.2 mega-pixel with auto focus as well. I expected the Storm to be very similar in quality but it doesn't even come close.

Original poster: Yeah, the camera on my Storm is definitely a big disappointment. I had the Dare for a while and it took nice pics and fast. But, with the Storm's camera, I was hoping someday I might be able to snap a pic of "a crime in progress". But with this kind of lag time, sheesh...I'd have to be a psychic.

4-5 second lag time on .75. Is this a hardware issue with no possible fix or can a software update make a difference? Anyone know?

I have seen the lag time be crazy too, and especially where it won't ever seem to focus and actually take the picture when the button is pushed.

However, I tested it after reading some of these. I brought the windows clock up on the screen in analog style, so the second hand shows. Kept taking pictures when the second hand was hitting one of the big tick marks on the clock - and about 2 seconds later after the sound effect (where can you turn THAT off?) and the screen blinking a bit - the picture came up. Every time it was right on the money with the second hand where I snapped it. I did turn off the flash and the image stab for these shots - so it appears the lag time is just an annoyance.

The pictures look fine on mine - but if I'm looking to take good pix I'll pull out a real camera - thank you. The video froze up a lot before version 2.75, but seems to work well now.

The camera is def. not the greatest....those tips on turning off the autocus and flash def. helped but for it being a 3.2 MP...i think it could be better! =]

Wow, that is much better. For what it's work I notice that the major delay comes about when you press the side shutter button. If you press the white camera image on the touchscreen, the picture is taken quickly.

The pictures are great, but the lag-time...I'll just tell the athletes at sporting events to hold on a couple seconds while my Storm camera gets it's picture taken. I'd rather have a ty picture taken when I want than a great picture of two seconds after what I wanted.
