Default Does anyone feel this way about surepress?

For menus I love it. Icons, options, especially the video/MP3 player. Touch to select, press to confirm is very nice.

However, I would give my left nut to be able to turn it off for typing. I can use it to type, but when I am typing something that's a paragraph or two long, I type fast. I CAN type fast, but typing fast while clicking the button down requires an extra level of focus that begins to grate on me. I can't glide as easy from key to key having to make the effort to click down over an extended period of time in the same way I can click down on the individual buttons of my 8703e.

Have you played with the keyboard settings? I can type almost as fast on my storm as I do on my pc.

sure press is horrid when paired with autocorrect. I waste more time using the backspace button to the get to correct word typed out than anything else. sometimes i throw in the towel and just use the landscape keyboard.

I use the full keyboard just because I don't like using surepress from the times I've tried it. I like the full keyboard but its not as accurate as I would like it to be. The autocorrect really helps it though so its not bad at all anymore.

I turned off auto correct as soon as I figured out how to. I think surepress is awesome. It is 1 of the reasons why I chose storm. I prefer feeling the feedback of selecting to the pure touchscreen buttons.

Get a Storm 2 and you won't be sorry. I was the same way sorta. Although I got to a point where I 'thought' I was typing pretty fast with the Storm 1. Mine broke so I got a Storm 2. I can type crazy fast now. This is due to the fact that you don't have to wait on the screen to pop back up before going to the next letter.

Like with any phone (or computer keyboard) my speed tends to improve the more I use it. That's been my experience with both the S1 and the S2. Disabling autocorrect is 4 touches away. If you dislike it, turn it off. Why complain about something that's within your control to change? Looks like 2010 is picking up where 2009 ended...

If you dont like the click then why by the damn phone! Surepress is what makes the storm unique. take it away and the phone is the same as all other phones out there.

The autocorrect is fine and i dont mind that at all. The predictive **** is what everyone hates i think but like stated you can turn that off easily.

I like the click for menus, icons, web browsing, and the media player. I just don't like it for typing long messages.

I honestly dont have to type ling messages on it....maybe 500 chars at most every once and a while but i never minded it i guess. The click on the storm 2 is better and easier to use for sure though.

I feel the exact same way. Great for browsing. Horrible for typing.

And to the person who can most types as fast as on the computer. You must not type more than 30-40 wpm

Might I suggest using Vlingo to input the text for you as I have done here?
