Default Anyone Else Besides Me Having Trouble With The BB Desk Top Mgr and Vista?

When I open the desk top Mgr sometimes it acts erratic and shuts down in the middle of back ups or just wont back up at all. Then sometimes its fine. Most of the time however it just fades away off the laptop screen or will fade away right in the middle of a back up repeatedly. Am I doing something wrong or is this software that bad? Its doing this on both of my laptops one Dell one HP.

It works fine on my Dell E6500 (2.8 GHz, 4 GB RAM if it matters) with Vista Business 32 on it. Only thing I ever had a ton of trouble with was the Roxio garbage. Have you tried downloading and installing the software from a different source, like directly from RIM?

Well the CD that came with the phone just wont load it starts loading then an error message comes up and I got the same error on both of my laptops. Then I went to the BB site and they re directed me to Verizons download site and I downloaded it there then burned it to a disk. That loaded OK but is just so spastic when its open and running.

Weird. I have to go to bed, but what version is it? I heard some people have trouble with 4.7, but apparently you can use 4.6. Strange it won't work on either laptop.

Count me as one of them. Since moving to 4.6, aside from it not wanting to restore my backup after upgrading to a leaked build a couple times, no issues like I had with 4.7. And I could always manually apply a backup after it finished loading the leaked build. I had to rearrange a few icons, but nothing too major.

I am running Vista on a Dell Inspiron 1525, my BB DM installed fine. I wish I could figure out how to get it to stop opening automatically when I start my computer. And for some reason my screensaver has not been working since I installed the DM.

Might just need a reinstall, make sure you run the installation as administrator and you shouldn't have any issues. I have run 4.7 with no issues on Vista and Windows 7.

In the beginning setup it will give you a box that is checked "Open Desk top Mgr on start up" You need to un- check that box before loading the program. Remove it and re install it and un-check the box.

Well I downloaded 4.6 from the BB website and it was no better still Wonky still dropping out in the middle of backups in fact it took me NINE tries before I could get a successful backup.

Seriously... Vista and DM have serious issues. I applaud anyone who can get Media Manager to work with a Dell that has Vista...

Try to install DM without media manager. Also.. make sure you run an update on your windows .. uninstall DM.. then install it without Media Manager... that's the only way I EVER got it to work at all.. on a Dell Inspiron with Vista Business.

You know, come to think of it I don't have Media Manager installed on mine either. Maybe that's why it works for me?

Yea, both my GF and I have Dells with Vista Business. I tried on BOTH computers to get DM to load from the CD, from the website.. tried compatibility mode.. and I have tried since about... spring 2007 to do this... actually, I think this issue is what brought me to crackberry. I asked around and couldn't find a fix... and found that it was the fact that Roxio and Dell Vista business don't mix... I tried to fix the Roxio.. but that didn't work.. finally updated every driver possible and installed DM without Media Manager.. and it worked.

I did install it to begin with but had problems with just the media manager part so I got rid of it, like everything else I've ever had from Roxio...lol! I don't specifically remember problems with DM itself though as a result. Seems like such a long time ago though.
