You want to to do something for your mother, ey?

-GIVE her the gift of some common sense and good advice....

1.) There is this weird thing called an economy that is in the toilet...
2.) 3 sons, they shouldn't be expecting much for Christmas, they should be wondering what they should do for HER, considering she has to raise 3 boys....
3.) Do the right thing, and help her.

LOVE is free, and can do things money simply cannot.
Appreciate her.

Any massage places in town?

Don't buy her an item unless it's something she can use, or collect. For example, if she collects knickknacks or something, find one. If she has a hectic life, get her a planner (or ****, a Blackberry!). If she walks or exercises on a regular basis, an iPod Shuffle would be cool.

Other then that, get her something that will help her relax. A trip to a masseuse, spa, nice quiet day out in the country. Maybe take her out to a nice homemade picnic out in the countryside. Not expensive, but thoughtful.

Don't waste money on crap that won't leave a solid memory or is of use.

Let me try to explain what these people are trying to say. I lost my 18 year old daughter in a car accident 3 years ago. There is nothing that means more to me than the time we spent together going snowmobiling or skiing or the little cards she gave me with a special note. I honestly can't think of one thing she ever purchased for me that came close to having more meaning. Things are just that. At the end of the day, most things are meaningless. Plan and pay for a special day for her and make is something she would like to do. Maybe a play or concert. If she is active go skating or skiing. Make it a full day that she can and will always remember. If you want to buy a small souvenir while out on your special day then do that. That will me more to her than you know.

Sorry I have no gift ideas austin,

Just reading this made me tear up a bit, and Im not joking and Im sorry for your loss but I completely understand what you mean. Ive been going through some hard times in the past couple of months and yes it has to do with love so I guess you could say Im a bit emotional, but my close friend lost his mom just a couple of days ago aswell and Ive seen what hes going through and I understand that money means nothing compared to love.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss, really I am.
I too have lost someone that still to this day means more than anyone or anything could ever attempt to match...Gifts dissipate into nothingness and what TRULY matters is love, compassion and appreciation for your family.

FAMILY, is what matters most.
I feel bad for the OP's mother-that somehow feels that 2 Grand in gifts is what Christmas is all about, and I don't even believe in this Paganistic holiday.

FWIW, EVERYDAY should be Christmas....

The last gift I gave my mother was writing her Obituary, and burying her last year.

I'd get her a Kindle, you would have to have the other 2 chip in with you, it's like 300.

A day at the spa to be pampered would be a nice gift for a mom, but it doesnt really come down to that, you have to do something memorable and it makes the gift mean that much more.

Growing up i didnt get much for Christmas since we never had much money, but we used to always go and make smores and stuff and drive around town to see the houses with all the nice lights and really thats all i used to care for.

Make something that will last i guess is what im saying
